As a few saw at the SA fornightly meet my Parras are not wiring up properly. I have followed the DIY thread and double checked and triple checked.

So what I am thinking is I am going to go the wreckers and get a couple of extra high beam 2 prong plugs and wire them in.

My question is I know I have to earth one side to one of the mounting points in the car and I would delete the red wire. But for powering it which wire do I use out of the remaining 2 wires as is it an Exec with a factory 3 prong/wire setup and there are 3 wires. And do I just cut and heat shrink the remaining wire?

Cheers.

The ONLY wiring modification is to cut the solid red wire on the low-beam plug (outer) and ground it on the plug side.

What have you done to yours?

We are not sure what he has done. . everything has been cut and rewired :S

Not everything has been rewired. I just had to cut all 3 wire on the 3 prong plug to extend them as for some reason it didnt reach. Was pretty clear. I cut the red wires on both sides on grounded them to the factory earth point. All that happened after that was my high beams were on 100% of the time as soon as I switched low beam on high beam would enable. So I crossed the 2 remaining wires to get low beam but is much weaker then it should be and high beam comes on too but is very dull. I tried it the DIY way and didnt work. The only reason I crossed the wires was so at least that way I had functioning low beams and high beams just incase the police had a look as I cant drive with just parkers or just high beams. I was going to do it like SHGNWGN's setup but that is a defect too. So I am planning to convert it to a 2 prong plug.

Get the wiring diagram, work out what wires on each side are the high beam

The high beam goes to one side of the light, the earth goes to the other.

The way the system works in a quick explaination is the high beam has constant power when lights are turned on. The low beam and the solid red change polarity depending if you are on high beam so in effect on low beam you have (looking at the high low beam globe)

Eartth
Power Power

Thus as the high beam has no earth, no light

On high beam you have

Power
Earth Power

Thus now the low beam has no earth thus no light

I have the wiring diagram. It states to leave the two wires with stripes alone, cut the solid red, and earth the solid red on the plug side. I tried that before I extended any wires and got nothing from it.

After many hours finally have 100% functioning Parras.
