hey mates,

My TS is very sluggish when it is started the first time during the day. It has difficulties revving. With the throttle halfway down, its only revving around 1.7k rpm (abt 40km/hr). After when it is warmed up, the problem disappears. Is there a problem? What is wrong and how do i resolve it?

any1 knows what's the price of a manual window regulator?

i have a tr 4cyl and it goes below zero here in the morning it only hesitates for the first 5 second or so then it runs ok, is your motor in good tune?

The 2nd gen 4 bangers seem to all be a bit sluggish when cold. There's not much you can do but let it warm up before driving at higher RPM's. The best you can do is make sure your car is tuned well. The rest is out of your hands really. Has the engine done a significantly high no. of kms too? Mine is also quite sluggish in the morning. After 5-10mins it runs beautifully though. Just make sure everything, especially your oil and spark plugs are in good nick.

maybe your engine oil is too thick? check that it is the right viscosity? and make sure the operating temperature for start corresponds to that of the oil.

I would put fresh oil in anyway and work by trial and error. I know it seems obvious but I guarantee the car will run a lot more smoother with cheap maintenance things like fresh oil and new spark plugs.

I think its just a common problem. My car was always sluggish on cold mornings. Now i just start it up for 2 or so minutes before i drive off and its fine. Also with the 4's you dont wanna put a too low visvosity oil in as older engines really hate it.

even with fresh oil, its still sluggish when cold. I put 15-40w oil (castrol gtx3) in it. oil is changed every 3 mths regardless of kms. it has just a lil over 200k on it. at times, i wonder if it is the transmission that is screwed. when cold, i wouldn't be able to get the rpm up above 2k and the gear would drag.

other than that, it is ok with no rough idle.

Check your o2 sensors. i suspect its either that or the water temp sensors for the "cold start" part of the ecu.

You SHOULDNT be driving your car above 2000rpm anyway until its at least 2 minutes into the trip. Its not the best for the engine/head
