quick question...
is the AWD torque converter the same as the FWD torque converter??
So far as i know AWD & FWD 3.5 use the same. The 3.0 has a smaller one but can be used....i've got one in my AWD.

i guess ill find out next weekend lol.. doing an engine swap from an awd into a fwd didnt unbolt the conrerter, just sliped the box off. hoping the FWD box will just slip back on and reassemble..
Im pretty mechanicaly minded but this is all new to me (engine swap) so its a learning curve!!

how did you go with this?
just to clarify , what is the swap your doing? you have an AWD and you making it FWD only? or you putting an AWD engine into a FWD?

When you put it back together make sure you unbolt the torque converter and place it back in the trans, if you dont you risk serious damage to the transmission oil pump

Mal , is that to ensure the drive tangs engage properly?

anyone now what the difference is between the stall speed of the 3.5L V6 and 3.0L V6 auto trans?
TR-TS 3.0l = 1800-2800 rpm.... TE-TW 3.0 & 3.5l = 2100-2600 rpm.

Thanks for that ZERO.
In my AWD 3.5 I can stall it up to about 1600rpm and then the engine torque is too strong so I let it go and it rockets away. Booting it from standing start without stalling it gets about the same, 1500 rpm and then it goes hard. So those with the 3.0 torque converter with either the 3.5 or the 3.8 V6, I'd like to know what stall speed in rpm you guys get. I'm guessing it's at least around the 2000rpm mark.
talking about torque converters, since a 3L is a better option, what about a 6G73 torque converter?

Are they easy to source? Is the bolt pattern the same?
