Hi all,

Don't hate me, but am looking at selling my 2007 SX series 3, but the good news is it to get a pajero, so still staying in the mitso family.

What is a reasonable asking price, 80k Kms, reverse sensors, ipod kit to factory stereo, molten red, auto, 90mm intake, K&N filter.
Some scuff marks and normal wear and tear, almost pristine interior.

Was thinking of asking around the 12-13k mark?

What would you think?

That sounds like fair price - all you have to do is advertise and gauge the interest from there . Rest depends on demand and negotiation skills.

leather?

If it's in good condition should be able to get 13k fairly easily.

Not leather interior, but at least this gives me an idea, thanks.
Had a look on car sales, some of the asking prices for this same model SX exceed $16k, which i think is a bit much, so will give the $13k a try and see what happens.

In May-July last year I had my 2006 Series 2 VRX (sports auto, leather, 80k kms, great condition, no dents/scratches, except for front spoiler scraping marks) up for sale, had a few nibbles at asking price 14k...but most people who actually viewered were willing to offer at most ~12k. Dealers would only go up to 8k (even though they'll have one in their lot for sale at $17k!!!).

In the end i chose not to sell it. Liked it too much and couldn't find a suitable replacement for the price I got it for 3 years previous (20k). Still drives beautifully and still had 2 years extended factory warranty on it at the time so no complaints re hanging onto it from me...

I imagine that the amount ppl would be willing to pay for it would be down by ~$1k-$2kby now, but given yours is 2007 model it could be worth about the same (I'm basing that on mine being an 06 VRX, and yours an 07 SX).

FWIW...

This is why you don't get shit from dealers... carsales.com.au is your friend.

My ralliart with 33,000 cost me $11,500 almost a year ago. If i Bought that from a dealer they would have been asking 18k i guarantee it.

Are you on crack? No dealer is going to sticker up a 10 year old magna for 18k

There was a ralliart in tassy with about 30,000 on it last year up for 18,900. So kinda just proved my point rofl.
Hell there was an 05TW awd on carsales a year ago with 50,000 for 23,000, it's still up there now.

And who is gonna pay that?

I saw a VN commodore with rear steelies in the galapagos islands last month for sale for $69,995. True story bro.

Im sorry but no one is going to pay that coin for an old car that needs dollar spent on it. If they do then they need to check their head is screwed on properly

You said nobody would put that up in a dealer for that much which was my original point. My point was infact what a RIPOFF dealers were so you just confirmed my point. You hide your failure to accept i was right by somehow dissagreeing to agree with me lol.

But did anyone buy it at this price. You can argue all you want on this one but if anyone is stupid enough to pay $18k for a ralliart then it's their own moronic fault, not the dealer. They can slap a sticker on it saying 18 but I bet you they would have come well down on this to move it off the lot.

Do you even know what my point was? i just explained this. I explained how dealers are ripoff, never once said people would buy it at that price, gods sake read the above posts before posting.

I did read it, dont take it so personal bro. Ive had some wine OK. Is this the last post?? Dearlers are a rip off if customers let them be. Same as private sales

Not all dealers are rip offs, I personally prefer buying from a reputable dealer over buying privately. Down here in Vic at least you get a fair bit of protection against buying something dodgy.

I.E. I only paid $12,999 drive away for my 2007 380 VR-X last November, with full luxury kit (leather, bluetooth etc.).

Well I've got mine up for $12500 and guess its now just a matter of waiting to see who nibbles at the price.
Looked into a few dealers and the best most could do was $8k, so not going there.

Anyone on here know of someone in VIC who is looking for a reasonable 380?
Let me know.

Two values on a vehicle, its real value the wholesale one.

The retail price, this is the one including dealer load and over allowance. Soemwhere in between is the private sale price.

A third value is the trade-in value. Usually way below what the car is worth as a private sale.
More like:
Real value, private sale = 100% (let's say)
Trade in value on a new car = 50%
Wholesale value = 65-75%
In dealer yard ready for sale = 120-150%

Rough guesses, argue with them if you know better.

Trade in is the wholesale value, thats why a yard when assesing your trade kniks off for a moment to call a few wholesalers to get the real value of the car being traded so if he looks like getting stuck with it for 80+ days he will call that wholesaler up to send a bus around to pick it up.

By offering up for trade what the wholesalers have advised him the worst case scenario is they have not done there backside on the vehicle.

Anything above and beyond the wholesale value of a vehicle offered at the time of trade is used up from the over allowance pre factored into the listed advertised price of the vehicle being purchased.

Everybody has a bigger opinion of what there car is worth thats why dealers have this figure called over allowance.

I don't know better just many years working in the industry.
