Hi all, just a general question, does replacing the power steering fluid make any differance? or does it still perform ok doesn't matter how old it is?

Replace if its very discolored (more black than red), I normally replace with the same intervals as, say, manual gearbox oil. It does make a difference, as the reason it is discoloured could be disintegration of internal components or dirt entry, among other things.

I'd agree totally with ammerty and suggest that the easy way to change it is to borrow the turkey baster from the kitchen (or a large syringe) and suck all the old fluid from the reservoir - discard the old fluid, refill with new Dex 2 or 3, run for a day or so and repeat. You will use 1 litre of dex 2 or 3 at a cost of under $10 per litre.
