Just bought all of my gear at the start of the week and its just about ready to be installed into my car. Anyways, I'm just wondering how people in here have their amp and sub setup in thier boot. I'm thinking about mounting the amp onto MDF along one of the sides of the boot with the single sub firing into the cabin. Any comments on this setup, or how to do it :D Pics of peoples installs would be good.
Also, have peopole with splits put their tweeters into the vent thing at the very corner of the dashboard, or have you simple cut holes into the door trim to accomodate?
Cheers!

have the subs facing the rear of the car, not firing into the cabin, you will get more spl.

you should have little round cap things at the corner of your windscreen
if so cut holes in em and plant the tweeters inside that, so its nice and flush, facing upwards.

face ya subs backwards for more deep bass.....

when ya get it all in post up a few pics !!!

lookin forward to em.

cheers

Nah, not after anything flashy. I just want it set up so that the gear runs well, with room for my rugby gear and baseball bat

As for sub positioning, does the rearward firing sub provide higher SPL for people outside the car or for occupants in the car, cause to be honest, I dont care how load it is from the ouside. I just want my sounds that hit my ears to be good.

it should be deeper on the inside

not quite sure, but i think it has something to do with sound boucing off the boot roof .....

this is a setup i did in a mates VR-X single rear firing Sony Xplod big arse 12" haha

basically the box was custom made with perfect dimensions for this sub, and also - the amp is flush mounted in the same box. Also it is finished off with Neons on the under side of the parcel shelf - and then he got some night-rider lights for the boot as well ;) haha

but yeah - excellent kick and great bass!!

Oh yeah - it fits perfectly between the rear wheel arches, and only comes as far back as where the wheel arches finish - basically utilising all of that narrow space. and it is bolted in - so it aint going anywhere.

yeh the theory is to have the sub facing the boot, so that the sound bounce back into the cabin. works much mroe effectively i think. my amp is fixed to the roof of the boot by a mounting i made.

I mounted my sub facing through the port in the back seat, although I did it so I could have the port down when I wanted nice loud bass inside the car, and it really did make a difference too. Although Im thinking of mounting it differently as my rear sheepskin seat cover prevents the port from being opened easily, so no real point in having the sub mounted this way.

I mounted my amp on the right hand rear wall of my boot. Mounted it onto some mdf 'L' bracketed to another peice of MDF which is bolted to the floor. After that I put together a type of mdf cover as a completely seperate and removable piece that clips onto the MDF that the amp is mounted to. Very simple and very tidy as I covered it all in a nice black felt, not too hard to do either, and quite effective. About a 1/10 on the rice factor though.

i gotz a question slightly off topic  !!! How much does the boot of the magnas rattle with a good boot setup??? Is it so much that when you drive past people they remember you car for the rattaling boot or for how it looks???

bit of foam behind the number plate wouldn't go astray

just weld the dam plate on, slash out the arc and get-a-buzzin'

that boot install is real cool. I'm thinking with the driving i do im gonna have to bolt down my box or else its gonna go tumbling everywhere.

most of the rattles (in TE-TH's) is from the plastic decor panel, this is removed fairly wasily, just wedge some thin foam or sound deadener between it and the body and that shuts a lot of it up, also some around the cables and wires also help.

magnas dont really have the boot chassis rail rattles like commodores are plagued with which is lucky, although one point, i found my boot rattles more now the subs are facing backwards, than when they were facing upwards....

now i gotta find a way to stop all the rattles underneath the boot, i reckon the exhaust heat shields and stuff have a fair bit of work, also the spare tyre recess is pretty flimsy so thats gonna get some deadening aswell

I think im gonna have to take it off and examine it, see what I need and what I dont, then put it back... hehehe. From what I've discovered though, it seems that filling bits with silicon does the trick. Rear view mirrors suck!

Actually you will find behind most mirrors has a screw behind it. I have it on mine. I have adjusted the mirror then tightened it so its pretty firm but you dont want to go overboard or you will break it... That stops the mirror from moving fairly well... but then if you like to doof doof down the street then there is nothing to stop it...

SuPaFLY

Well, thats crap then. I want the doof doof without the buzz buzz of my rear view mirror!

well tighten up your screw and see how it goes... maybe some silicon gel with it as well
