I have been chasing oil leaks on said car for a little while. The car has travelled 135k. I have changed the rocker cover gaskets, which alleviated the worst of the leaks. Yesterday i degreased the engine as I was still seeing smoke/burning smell from front exhaust manifold area.

This morning i noticed oil smear at the back of the front bank cylinder head. Also oil drops on 2 of the manifold nuts/studs nearest that side of the head. The smear at the back of the head could be from this i guess.

My question is.... do these studs go into an oil gallery in the head? If so how would i seal them?

Pretty much a newbie with the Magnas...but dont mind learning. Any input would be grateful.

Thanks
Steve

Cam seals maybe? That is a common spot. There are plenty of places for it to leak. Keep the engine clean and they will be easy to identify.

at the back of the front cylinder head is a cap held in by 2 bolts. the o-ring that seals this cap leaks through old age. It is an easy fix.
buy the o-ring through mitsubishi (about $5).
you will need to cut the front bolt to get it out and replace it with a shorter one.
