Hey guys,

Ive been dealing with this frustrating issue for a few weeks now, I can't remember which one happened first but my remote died, then the central locking with it, then the interior lights (except for some random days they come on), then around the same time my battery drained a little bit due to the stereo being on when the car wasn't running. The first time this happened the car didn't start instantly at turn key like usual but a few seconds later, then I found the ECU had reset and followed instructions from here to program the "S" and "3.5".

Every single time I turn the car off then on, I get blasted with the auto-air con and have to run through the ECU settings, the car used the fire instantly but now it takes a almost exactly 5 seconds of cranking then it starts. If the battery was the culprit I would have thought the starting would be random and sometimes not work ? I have had a few 3 hour trips also so if it was the battery I would have thought this would have charged it by now.

My fuel gauge seems to be off now also, it used to warn me of low fuel when the gauge was below the last quarter, now it goes off above, is this wrong ?

Please help out with my first-world problems..

Check the fuses in the engine bay, the two inside the yellow holder.

Did you pull them out and check them, they are hard to diagnose in the retaining clip

No couldnt work out how to get them out fully, the yellow clip slips up but couldn't get it off without breaking it

I get a pair of pliers, pull the yellow socket up, then use the pliers to pull the fuses out. I take no responsibility in damaged fuses. I'm reckless, mainly because I have 10 10A fuses on standby as I never isolate the battery when doing electrical work such as lighting. I just hop in there and start playing with wires. Usually hear a bzzt as the wire falls on the metal body and the interior light goes out. This is where I replace the interior dome light fuse :P

check that your terminals are on tight and not shifting about. happened to me :-)

I had the ECU reset issue when I blew the fuse on the interior light. Replaced that fuse and it went back to normal. Although I didn't have any issues with the fuel guage or locking.

Hey guys,

This issue is still ongoing, I have replaced the fuses in the yellow holder and a few others, same thing happens.
Got in the car this morning and the car wouldnt even start, no reds on the dash, completely dead in the water.

Mechanic took a look and couldn't find anything, over the day he recharged the battery and it now starts, but the same stuff with the accessories/ecu, also central locking and interior lights don't work,

I heard there is also some small module relay part Magna's have that could be the problem

Thoughts ? Auto-electrician time ?

Has the charging by the alternator been checked? If the voltage regulator is playing up, I gather all sorts of electical mayhem can result :(

Took her to the auto-electrician ... it was a ****ing rodent that had made a nest in the guard near the battery and was chewing wires !, they repaired the wires and everything works.

A serious WTF moment.

Well glad to see you fixed it. Checking for rodents eating cables is not really on the list of things I recommend when people have electrical problems but I might just have to add it now :wtf:

Happens during mouse/rat plague times, had to rewire the driver's side headlight on my TS wagon when I bought it 5 years ago, car had chaff in the back so obviously a country car.

They can chew up house wiring too. Not safe!
