Hey guys,

All the details for my car are in my signature below. I seem to have an oil leak coming from the top of the transmission somewhere. I know that its not the spin on oil filter because I have checked that, but it looks like its either coming from the top of the sump (on the side of the transmission) or the sensor that is above that.

My question is, is there a common place for it to start leaking on this make/model? For example (and i'm sorry for using this car as an example), VT Commodores are known for leaking rocker cover gaskets, or VN Commodores are known for leaking inlet manifold gaskets.

The oil leak isn't major but I just don't like any oil leaks at all, its just something i'm fussy about haha.

Thanks in advance.

Every car leaks oil eventually. They are not fatal unless very severe. So pinpoint the leak exactly and there will probably be a seal or a bolt. If it is a seal on the tranny then get it looked at by a mechanic, if it is a bolt then make sure it is tightened to the specified torque. Let us know exactly where it is

Ok, on Saturday I will take off the air intake ducting (up to the air filter) and the battery cover, then I will degrease and pressure wash it, go for a short drive and recheck. And I will let you know what it ends up being if I work out what it is. Car has done just under 250,000kms and the engine is spotless, not a drop of oil on it or underneath it. Thats why I want to get this leak fixed, my parents hate when cars leave oil stains on the driveway.
