Hey guys, bit of a problem with my car audio.
I installed a 4f cap today to my system and I'm getting nothing but feedback on my subs. Originally it was two type r 12"s plus two mrp-1000's to accommodate and type r everything else blah blah blah. Everything is terminated and I have my
Power for all components coming from the positive post on the cap. Nothin worked but when I plug my RCA signal on one amp in particular, everything else powers including cap...as if the RCA somehow completed the circuit...
It's strange because between the other amps, the RCA cables don't power anything
Up nor have I touched my hu.
The second problem is when it is powered, I only get feedback from both woofers however signal on my speakers is fine...
Don't know where to start troubleshooting, but is there any chance my 0 gauge if run parallel to RCA could effect this? Because I get no interference on my
Speakers...
Trolling much ? :)
Running power and signal cables close to each other is a no-no. Put power on one side of the car (passenger I think) and audio signals on the other, or at least up the middle if you have to.
Why do you have a 4 farad cap? Are you trying to kill someone? People seem to be dubious of capacitors helping much and would probably recommend a quality battery (eg: optima) and 0WG power cabling.
Make sure your earth is also 0WG and very securely earthed. Heck put your earth into a distro block and earth it at multiple locations just to be sure.
If your amp doesn't turn on until the RCA is plugged in, this sounds like a fault to me - double check the earths especially, and even the remote wire for your amps.
I'm sure others would like to help, so be patient and be bloody careful with that cap - remember it holds it's voltage and if you go and short something out, you could get a very powerful zap.

Hey man, I need 4 farad to support all my components as subs alone are 1500w each plus speakers on top. All my wiring is 0awg ofc (power and earth) and did earth in two seperate locations. I'll check my remote cables first because they should be sending the signal to turn on because yeah those RCA's shouldn't e doing anything lol.
I'll let you know how I go.

Hey Howz it doing
I have Feedback for you ...
Its not really feedback.....you need a mic for that.....
After typing in the stuff below, and thinking about what would sound like feedback, because I've never heard anything like it before....
So this is just a guess!
The Gain is set to High and its clipping the output like a MOFO!
OR
It sounds like you may have dual voice coil Woofers. And you wired the speaker loops wrong....
First lets your gear sorted.....
Sounds like your Subs are rated @ 500w RMS with 1500 peak...Ignore the peak in all of instances, despite what it says on the box....Talking RMS is like talking Kilowatts at the wheels, i.e. Accurate.
I dont know which subs they are, but you probably could have run two alpine subs off the one amp... 2 x dual 2 ohm or 2 x 4 Ohm subs can both be wired for a 1000 Watt RMS 2 Ohm load, A great match for one mrp-m1000....But you have 2, thats OK....:dancin:
The subs you would have bought to warrant buying these 2 monos are the 2 Ohm single voice coils....
Although its good practice to run RCA's away from power cables, its the Speaker leads, Fuel pumps, and ECU that you need to avoid..... DC current is flat line direct power, same as the earth of a chassis, no one avoids the chassis when they lay RCA's do they....
Speaker cables are Alternating current, highs and lows, All pumps are noise electrically, and I have no idea why the ECU is noisy, but it's generally considered so.....
That said its a good rule to aviod all cables with RCA's, if you need to cross speaker cables, do it at right angles.
Firstly, did you charge the cap according to instructions, thats how they a get a dangerous reputation. (RTFM - not directed at you personally)
If you have a smartphone, there are plenty of apps out there allowing you to play sub bass frequencies (starting with the volume turned down please) connect a 3.5mm to Two Rca lead to the RCA ins on the Mono blocks..... 50-60Hz would be a good start.
This will give a clean signal to each amp, one at a time,
But to trouble shoot, if you can find a way to remove the cap for the meantime, just to check everything else.....
Check one sub/mono at a time, with only one amp powered, just disconnect the trigger wire for the amp you want turned off.
If you cant figure out whats making the noise, Take it to Marty @ FHRX studios (http://www.fhrxstudios.com/), He's a legend Tuner, and used to post on here!
But... Dont run the system any more, til the wiring is properly checked, and the gains are reduced...
You will most likely kill something, if you haven't already

I reran my rca's and it seems to be operating fine..can't justify why lol. Yeah both subs are 500rms and 4 ohm load - I got the second sub and amp for $250! Couldn't pass such a bargain, it wasnt clipping it out I can guarantee you. Nevertheless, it's solved and it sounds great, thanks for your support everyone!
Btw caps and car audio equipment in general is cheaper internationally on fleabay inc. posting than local :)
