Hi all sorry if this has been posted before. I have a series one ex government es and not a big fan of the front bumper or head lights so question is, is the front bar as easy as buy a later model and paint then reinstall or is there more to it. Again same with the headlights?
Also anyone know what sort of cost is involved or is it just call local Mitsubishi dealership and make sure I'm sitting down.

Yeah the front bars are interchangeable, as well as the headlights. The only other headlights I know of though are the darkened ones, which aren't that bad, about $300 new each from mits last time I looked.

Doesn't have to be nesesserilly a later model. The SX, VRX and GT shared the same front bar and grill and fog lights from start of production through to the closure of the plant. The only difference was the SIII VRX got an insert that sits in the lower lip of the front bar. Same goes for the rear bar being the same for the SX, VRX and GT and same insert for the SIII VRX.
Headlights your probably after would be the VRX and GT (dark grey housing) the SX got the chrome surrounds like what you currently have.
To answer your question, yes all this will fit straight onto your car.

Yeah the VRX style would be what I'm looking at, headlights on there at the moment are starting the get hairline cracks right up the top.

Thanks Kif, yeah personally not a big fan of the letter box style grill and quite like the spotties and mesh on the newer/higher models.

Front bars are roughly arou the $450 mark. SIII VRX lower insert is actually worth more then that last time I checked.

I do apologize, I'm in a rush at work on my phone!
The insert doesn't seem worth the asking price IMO

Bars are in the mid 300's for a newbie, retail may be a little in the $400's depending on the dealer.
Remember that you will also need the fog light inserts, fog lights, brackets as well as the 2 lower guards and the plastic guard that runs along the lower tie bar as these are all different on the ES to the other ranges.

just to clarify my 550 was in regard to s3 vrx insert not the bar. and it was an vague memory from when i looked into getting one.

So from the sounds of things by the time I buy it all new if I can't find one from Eddies I'll be paying around the $1k maybe more?

Anyone know if I can buy the mesh inset for both top and bottom? Saves my buying a whole new bumper that's all.

I dont't believe the mesh inserts will fit due to the front bar they go on being different to the ES one you currently have.

This.
The top & bottom cuts outs for the mesh inserts are a different size & shape to the ES cut outs, so they won't fit at all.
If you want the mesh inserts then it's a SX/VRX/GT style front bar or nothing!
