My wife's TF reversing lights are pathetic. I finally splashed out and bought a pair of LED globes which fitted OK. I then tried to see the improvement but the lights didn't come on. Traced the problem to the reversing light switch. it is a bit icky. Can the switch be made to work better (clean it out or something like that), or is it a case of buy a new switch - if I can get one?

Try turning the globes around in the socket...led are polarity sensitive

Thanks fro your replies. I have put LED's into the reversing lights and they are much better than the originals. My problem lies with the switch - at times it doesn't put voltage to the bulbs at all. Other times it is OK. I pulled it out and sprayed it with WD40, and I think it is better. Has anyone done mods to the rev switch?

WD-40 is not going to help an electrical switch. When you say switch, do you mean your shifter or the circuit switch?

I was aware that WD40 would not help the electrical contacts - in fact is it more of an insulator, but it was all I had at the time. I wanted to ensure that the little ball and spring moved freely. I believe that the electrical contacts of the switch will not be exposed to any oils etc from the gearbox anyway. I cannot say for sure, but I think that it is more reliable now. Anyway, it is fairly easy to get at and ultimately replace.

The LED lights make a difference, but the size of the lamps is such that even an arc lamp would have trouble in getting any decent amount of light out to the rear where you really need it because of restricted visibility.
