I have a issue with my 97 KF verada the hazard lights keep coming on.
I have to disconect the battery or else it flattens.
Some History
Two months ago had replace Motor and gearbox fitted.
Flat Battery issues, tested to find Batt at 10v and alternator not charging
Went to replace alternator and found cable loose so tighten cable instead and got 14+ volts.
Flat Battery again , RACQ said Alternator charging but battery was to low to charge near dead, replaced with newish battery.
Went to unlock car and Hazards started and would not stop until i got out of the car locked it unlocked it and when i closed the door they went on again.
They will go off when you drive the car but will randomly come on again.
Now the window controls do not work on drivers door.
argh!
Happened to any one else
Suggestions on how to track this down
Footnote, my boot lock does not work (unless i use key) thought i mention that as similar post had this issue (The lock mechanism is working (Dual Fuel / boot) just the catch for the cable is broken)
Remove Factory Radio Head unit 2 weeks ago and connected new Head ubit , but am 100% positive that wiring is correct as i have done these many times

Sounds like something is tripping it. If you just installed a new stereo, check the wiring loom behind the switch. That is a good first step.
Had this similar problem ages a go, as above, check that hazard switch wiring loom. Mine was pinched and did some strange things

Removed New Head unit and checked all wiring connectors, wires for breaks cuts what ever and all looks to the eye good, and hazzard switch connector is good
1/.When ever a door (any) is opened the hazzards come on for about 3-*4 mins then turn off
2/.The driver door control are all dead but did work yesterday for the duration of a 10 min trip , windows went up and down but as soon as the stopped the car and opened a door they went dead and with the window down....!!
Are the door switches and hazzard on the same type of relay ??
Stock alarm utilises hazards and also monitors the opening/closing of doors. its the only thing j can think of that links the 2 components. my guess is the programming on the alarm is going haywire.

Do you mean factory Alarm ,are the verada s fitted with this or after market...
id say this could be the direction to check as when i pull the fuse in engine bay for hazards they still work, if i then also pull the fuse for indicators drivers foot-well the hazards still work ??
OK New thread should be

Not sure, but have a feeling there's something to do with the alarm that uses the hazards to indicate what type of "event" has occured? I could be confusing it with something else though.
Might be a case of tracking down what the event is and rectifying it.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Try to trigger the alarm (leave the window down and unlock/open from the inside while the car is locked). Make sure that the hazards and alarm goes off. If worst comes to worst, rip it out and put in an aftermarket alarm system.
Other than that, I can't think of anything that might be causing this. Unless of course the wiring fault is way further back than you were able to check. This would make this a dash out job, which you should avoid at all costs.

I must admit i did not even know there was a Alarm,Trying I can not get the alarm to activate...
Looking at the old Radio Head unit it has a red light with security on it.
There is a second and third socket the first above the Radio loom socket on the old Head unit the top one which i assumed was for the steering wheel controls , could this or the third socket be for the security/alarmhttp://www.metronetit.com.au/verada/verada radio.jpg

I am not familiar with this particular unit, but generally the steering wheel controls are connected to the radio loom. This should definitely be an alarmed unit, but I don't know which port it is.

The BEM controls the factory alarm that all KH (yours) cars have. THe BEM controls the alarm indicator timers and the window delay (cutting and supplying power to the windows)
I would check the door buttons (the rubber things with screws at the rear lower section on the car body) are all ok. These often go after time passes and can freak the alarm out. They are easy to remove and replace.
The next thing is taking the car to a dealer to determine if the BEM has died.
in a KH, the steering wheel controls are in a seperate plug along with the half height antenna wire from memory. Yours is a late KH as my one has a CD Stacker with a square plug.

Hi My Mistake my verada is a 97 KF is that different
Update Under The hood
i disconnected a plug RHside top of firewall that was connected to a box with two relays
i disconnected a plug LHside top of Firewall that wires ran thro the firewall and linked in to a loom that had wires going to the Brake Master
i disconnected a plug LH front being the bonnet switch
The Doors can be opened with out the Hazards coming on !!!!!!
So the alarm must be shorting and maybe the horn part may have been disconnected by a past owner ??
Re no power drivers door controls : Removed and cleaned darkened contacts inside control unit with electrical spray, re connected and controls work.
Re connected Alarm plugs and all windows open and no hazards lights flashing !
BUT now no indicators !!! (Fixed hazards switch, with this unplugged the indicators do not work) lol
Every thing seems to be working, i do have a feeling that i have a electrical issue somewhere and this will not be a long term fix
