Gday All,

I have spent the afternoon replacing spark plugs and rocker seals/tube seals.

When I put it all back together I got a loud whining noise from the engine, seemed to be coming from the front and rear heads. Sounded like a sprintex when its wound up.

I checked for air leaks incase it was air rushing thru a small leak, found nothing, put the old plugs back in and the problem has gone away. I know I bought Bosch Platinums but I dont recall the particular part number as they are all now in the big bin out the back.

So is this the normal thing to happen if I was a noob and happened to pick up the wrong plugs from the shelf? I tried googling it and didnt really get anywhere.

Otherwise, got any recommendations for new plugs? :)

Jump on eBay US & do a search for NGK's.

I'm running the NGK BKR6 platinums on my 3 Magna's, but the BKR5 should do you, unless you've got LPG. You can get a set of 4 at the moment for under $20 plus delivery. Last time I bought mine, I grabbed 30 plugs for $135 delivered!

Sounds to me like you installed the wrong type of plugs - there are 2 different seal designs on sparkplugs - one has a crush washer and flat seat whilst the other has no washer and a tapered seat. Install the wrong one and combustion gases will leak out on every compression stroke from all cylinders and make the exact noise you describe. They are not interchangeable.
