Hi guys
So im almost finished installing the stereo system and rewired everything. I took the stock head deck out that originally came with the magna from factory. I am now left with a gaping big hole when i have the aftermarket head deck in there it just sits loosely. Im guessing there's some kind of insert that will make it look and fit much nicer? now what do i need to buy and were???
cheers

Just checking; you haven't forgotten to put on the bezel afterwards? I the replacement came with a bezel?

Yeah they should come with a plastic surround which serves to cover that.

I got the impression the car was factory and complete, he ripped out the stock head unit and put in an aftermarket one but doesn't have the bezel/plastic surround (Same thing gu3rilla) so there's a gap between the head unit and console. In which case generally these come with the actual unit. I dunno if they're universal though, he might need a specific one. A photo would help mate.

I know of course i have that plastic surrounding.
Im saying in your picture you just posted imagine that head unit gone thats the hole i have left in there.

YESSSSS!! thats what mine looks like. My head deck is just sitting there with this space grrr i have no idea on how to fix this .
OHHH you mean the DIN pocket!! right, my bad!
there are two types, one for the climate control models and one for the non-climate control ones- yes there's a difference. you should be able to get one from supercheap or some place similar

Ahh yeah as hojo says, you need what is referred to as a DIN pocket. Did your car have climate control or not? I'm currently in the same boat, that picture is of my car as it sits at the moment. I'm having trouble locating a suitable pocket as I had climate control and they seem to be a pain in the ass to find compatible ones for climate control models.

no i dont have climate control so what does that mean?
Im just having a look at the stock head unit and it has a bracket mounted too it on both sides do i need this??
So i just need to ask for a din insert for a magna without climate control?

it means it should be easier for you to acquire a DIN pocket- if all else fails though, you could probably get one from your local Mitsu spare parts

normally people replace a single din cd player with a single, or a double din into a double din lol

Wouldn't it be fairly easy to get a din pocket from a wrecker? most magnas ive seen have them

well normally people don't have money just to splash cash on a double din or just don't need one :D

Yes, he didn't have climate control which means it wasn't a top spec model which means it wasn't as likely to have had a double DIN. He should be able to use any single DIN from a wrecker, whereas since my mounts are different, I am shit out of luck ;)

When I removed the broken CD changer from my Ralliart, I filled the hole with a "DIN pocket" from Autobarn. You can get universal ones with various brackets and surrounds. This one fitted perfectly. Good place to store iphone connection cables etc.

Single Dins Cd players and a Pocket look good in a Double din hole.
And a flush fit looks way better than a proud fit IMO
