hey guys, my name is moe and im new here. I've registered and been doing alot of reading
on the forums to give me some insight to my problem. Here's my 2 cents worth to give back to the magna club....

Thanks to some of the posts for heading me in the right direction.
My problem was the car had a hunting idle problem which was one part of the problem.
Second part of the problem was idle too low, even on cold start up it would idle at around 700rpm
straight off the bat, and when you would put air con on and into transmission into drive, it would sometimes stall the car if you accelerated quickly and released pedal just as quick. So...

First step was replacing ISC which instantly helped with cold start up and warm running idle which
now runs at approx 1500rpm when stone cold for a couple mins then down to 850rpm - warm which is just about perfect in my opinion. Now maintains a steady idle when Air con is switched on also.

After fitting the ISC i still had a hunting idle problem so, i replaced the whole throttle body with a second hand one, cleaned it thourougly before putting it onto my car. Once that was installed and air
screw slightly tweaked, the idle is now rock solid perfect. :))) This is just a heads up for some ppl having similar probs. Thank you.

I had a similar problem with my V6 TS Magna wagon. It turned out to be the idle control motor. I replaced it with a new Mits. unit (not 3rd party...apparently they are just junk and fail within 12-18 months) and it fixed everything. Mind you...it took a while for the ECU to adjust itself to the new ICM...about a week before it all settled down.

thanks for this post it helped me immensley

the issue I had was I would be driving along or at the lights and the car would just cut out, like the immobiliser was shutting the fuel pump off. The mechanic replaced the fule pump suspecting that was the problem. A week later the same thing, but more intermittant. So I read the forums and figured my ISC was the issue. I got a new one and put it in, this seemed to mask the problem temporarily. One thing that had been on my to do list was replace my thermostat as it was seemingly open the whole time, and the car would never stay at the correct temperature.

So after reading this post and becoming frustrated with the car cutting out I decided I was going to pull the throttle body off and check it and replace the thermostat. Well not surprisingly the throttle body was full of black gunk, everywhere I looked was clogged up and the holes that should have been open were restricted by gunk. I cleaned it with a can of carby/throttle body cleaner and reatached it to the engine. whilst reattaching the connectors and tube I noticed that the thermostat housing was connected to the throttle body. Maybe the faulty thermostat was also aiding the fault ??? So i replaced the thermostat and did an oil and oil filter change.

Now the car runs so much better, It idles to high at the moment, I figured maybe the car was previously overcompensating for the crappy throttlebody and needs time to readjust. it sits at 1200RPM when idle. But is now runs so much better and in two days has not cut out. I think if it has not happened in a couple of weeks then the issues is resolved.

just need to figure out the idle issue now and I will be sweet

Spoke to soon, car stuffed up on the way to work several times

This weekend I am going to reset the ECU and see how it responds
