Hi all, after a rather long hospital stay, six and a half weeks, I am back in the land of the living and getting ready to start the long awaited conversion.

I have actually purchased Mr SPL's Climate, Blackout Dash, wood grain etc. Now most of this we figure is relatively simple as we both have experience in dash removal and looms etc and he has the appropriate looms. My car already has cruise fitted from factory, so that is a bonus.
The big issue is the climate control system,
What should we be looking to transfer from the wreck to mine?
Where are they located?
Also, what will happen with the air bag system, mine does not have them, yet I am sure they are fitted in his?

All help is greatly appreciated, cheers, Beachy

Re air bag. Yours does not have one unless it was selected as an option.

I'm not sure on the Air-bag system but I can help you with the climate control.

Here's a summary of what needs to happen:
- You need to transfer the loom, servo's and sensors over into your car. Everything will click in - To my understanding and I could be wrong but Verada to Magna for the same model you should be fine - i.e. KE to TE.
- You're looking for 3 servo's - one infront of the blower assembly, one under near the shifter, one on the side of the heater box. Be sure to remove the metal bars connecting the servo to the levers and the fittings that allow to connect. Fit these servos in your car.
- Fit the sensors. You need 2 and the 3rd is optional. Main two you need is the solar sensor & water temp sensor. Optional sensor is outside air temp sensor - just purely to give you an outside temp reading.
- Remove current fan speed transistor and replace with Verada one. Transistor is fitted to heater core surround. Has a cable plugging into it.
- Bypass heater core thermostat located ontop of heater core cover. Two yellow wires connected to thermostat need to be straight connected to the wires coming out of the heater core box. (connects to a sensor inside).
- Fit CC unit with breather tube and you should be good.

Good luck with it! :)

Photosensor is optional, its job is to make the fans quieter at night.

Hey thanks guys, I am pretty certain that the loom swap is the way we are going, however, as my car does not have air bags, will this cause any issues once it is in?? I mean will I be getting some sort of dash warning about airbags etc??

Cheers, Jeff

PS, what is this photo sensor you speak of??

You can fit the SRS system to your exec. I did to mine but it is not compulsory, you can just leave the SRS plugs unplugged and you will not get a light on the dash as this runs off the SRS module that you won't be installing. Also make sure the loom you get is out of a verada EI and not XI.

just curious if the loom comes from an XI is it hard to modify to fit in a TE Exec?

The loom was modified one from Mal. It also had the capability to run the blackout dash and the trip computer. Cannot say what it was out of originally, sorry mate. As to where this story goes, the loom is actually going into an Xi, so I can have the trrip and black out in there now. One mad swap after another :)

lol what a co incidence my TE also has a KH loom which was modded by Mal to run the blackout cluster/trip comp.

i was more talking about the climate control - if you use a KE XI to TE exec which looms need to be swapped

Go to my build thread, I have just transferred every loom out of a KF XI to my TE Exec, I wanted cruise, climate and power windows, I have not fitted SRS however, I now have all the wiring there from the KF XI loom, all Id need to install is the dash and steering wheel with SRS and then the SRS ECU which I also have.

My build should give you a basic idea, there are many close ups of the motors and their locations.

However with the black out cluster if you get a KE/KF Xi loom which is what you will want as its easier you will need to have a chat to Madmagna about altering the blackout cluster wiring, or IIRC MR SPL had that done already.

Also make sure to add te ETACS module to the junction box as there will be plenty of wires for that.

The wiper stalk is also different for the XI so change that over.

As for the climate, I would be adding wiring for the additional climate relays and temp sensor in the front of the car.

Hi, looked at your build, awesome work mate. im jealous. looked at your climate control bit, helped alot. one thing i want to know my TE already has cruise, power windows, ABS, SRS airbag - so can i get away with just swapping the dash loom for climate control? or am i better off finding an EI for this(I just found one)

Honestly I think you should be alright to just swap the dash looms, I dont see many reasons why not, but you could always double check with someone like Madmagna.

Some issues I ran into were

-The doom looms, from the door come out of the door, through the grommet and into the cabin, now the passenger door loom and two rear door looms from the Exec plugged into the Xi Floor loom no worries, however the drivers side door loom did not. The Exec door loom and dash loom (where the two connect) only has 2 rows of pins where as the dash loom and drivers door loom from the XI has 3 rows of pins. Im not sure whether its just a power window/verada thing or whether its the difference between an EI or XI but all that meant is I had to run the Verada drivers door loom straight away instead of waiting till I decided to fit the power windows.

-The Xi also has a 3 Button central locking remote which costs about $300, I dont think the Ei is the same but that means in order for me to get my central locking to work I need to get an Xi remote as the Exec remote does not work.

Edit: Funny that you like my work as I was following your power window conversion thread very closely and at one point thought it would be too hard for me.

yea i thought that was you. thanks, looks like we both helped each other.

question by doing the full loom swap from the Xi did you gain any cool features? like the features that are unique to the XI what are they? just trying to figure out if it is worth my time doing a full loom swap

btw added you on facebook(i think its you as saw your build thread and remembered some of those pics on the AMC fb page)

I did get some cool things on the Xi loom like

-Key barrel light
-C Pillar Lights
-SRS Wiring
-Center Clock display
-Light Delay (Etacs unit is needed for that)

i have everything on your list except for the key barrel light and ETACS, which i guess i want.

so you replaced all looms correct? including the looms in the engine bay?

which looms are the key barrel lights ETACS on?

The Etacs loom is part of the drivers floor loom.

The light is part of the dash loom.

about to purchase a donor Verada XI so i can do my climate control conversion. Do you know if i need any of the engine bay wiring? just want to make sure the donor car has all the bits

The engine bay loom contains the required wiring for the dual pressure switch, to save hassle of cutting/splicing/testing I would probably just replace the engine bay loom.

But like I said, I didnt have cruise, I wanted cruise so I need the engine bay wiring anyway, and I also needed the ECU to gearbox/trans loom, you shouldnt need that though.

found out the donor car i was going to get doesnt have the engine bay loom, its cut at the airflow meter. thats the loom the dual pressure switch is apart of correct?
