im thinking about a new exhuast system but i dont want the shields blocking the view is it ok to pull these off and throw them out?

dude, it depends. take them off and it wont result in your car spontaneously combusitng, but it would be better to leave them there, they are there to keep parts of the engine bay cooler that they would be without the shields, so without them (for example) intake temps would be up and power down.
blocking the view? of some headers? whos ever gonna be looking?

I changed mine to a genuine carbon fibre one, looks much better if you are worried about looks

Why hide some nice aftermarket extractors.
Get them coated inside and out, will keep the heat out of your engine bay and will look great

Yes, it's fine not to use them, if you don't want to.
Which brand of extractors are you going to fit? If you're fitting HM headers, then the stock heat shields will fit - if you want to use them. Other brands of headers will not be able to be covered with the shields as they won't fit, which will solve your dilemma for you!
