Hi guys,
I've been struggling for a couple of days to get my rear view camera installed. I got a double DIN DVD player that comes with rear view camera and I can't get it to work. I asked the guy about installation procedure of the camera, and if repplied:
Then please find out the "back car" wire from the unit, and the power wire from the camera, and the reverse power wire from your car, them please connect these 3 wires together.
Then it will work well.
Now when he says "the reverse power wire from your car" what does he mean? Where do I find this wire on my Magna TJ Series II 2003??????
Plus, I am also trying to connect the antenna from the TV? How do I do this? Can I just hook it up to the normal radio antenna????
Thanks a heaps!
Mike

black car wire, if he means the one from the unit, it reads as the ground wire for the it
power wire from the camera would be a red like most things, or if it came with a manual, itll say in there.
and the reverse power wire has me stumped, but again, reads to me as the power wire to the reverse lights, but id get more responses before doing that.
only just thoughts on it, but its a start

Okay..
Headunit - Reverse Signal Wire & Video RCA
Camera - Power (Red&Black) Video RCA & Reverse Signal Wire
The next bit is quite straight forward..
Video - RCA to RCA
Signal - Reverse Signal to Reverse Signal <-- This one connects to your reverse light (Thats where it gets the signal from)
Power - I stole this from the reverse lights too.

With mine, at the camera end, there is a black for ground and mine was green for reverse, and at the HU end I have the RCA plug for Camera in and the green wire for the Reverse Signal wire. Power for mine comes from the green wire
All I did was splice into the reverse wire for the signal and the black on the earth wire on the reverse light.
Then plugged in the RCA at the HU end and joined the green signal wire to the Reverse Signal wire on the HU. Turned on the HU, ensured the Camera setting is on and shift to reverse and check to make sure it works.

You can't use your radio antenna. You need a dedicated TV antenna.

Hey all,
just finished installing a reverse cam with my Alpine 7" DVD player.
Steps and connections are as follows:
1) Locate the reverse cam VIDEO SIGNAL connection from the head unit and connect that to the camera - usually an RCA input/output type connection.
2) Locate the REVERSE CAM ACTIVATION connection - usually the one that tells the head unit to switch to camera input when the car is put in reverse - this is usually a single cable.
3) Run your wiring to the back of the car - this is the longest and most frustrating part of the install.
4) Locate the REVERSE POWER cable which should be the blue and red striped cable coming from the cable cluster connected to the reverse lamp - I had to strip the cluster insulation cover a little to get enough room to do the job.
5) Connect the *CAMERA POWER cable (usually red) and the REVERSE CAM ACTIVATION to the red and blue striped cable as mentioned in step 4.
6) Connect the CAMERA GROUND cable (usually black) to the vehicle chassis.
Everything should work once the car's stereo is powered up put into reverse.
TIP: Make sure to test the connection before drilling any holes!
Alternatively, the *CAMERA POWER cable can be connected to any source that has constant power. This enables the camera to be on all the time but will not make the head unit jump into camera mode unless the car is put in reverse. If your head unit has a manual camera button as one of the input sources, this can be used to manually switch to camera mode while listening to the stereo.
Hope that helps.

Thanks a heaps! Your post is really awesome!. However, you say 2) Locate the REVERSE CAM ACTIVATION connection - usually the one that tells the head unit to switch to camera input when the car is put in reverse - this is usually a single cable.. Could I please ask you, where would I find that cable at my Magna TJ Series II 2003
