Hey guys my roof lining has completely come away from the roof now only held in place by my interior light and roof handles!!!
i was wondering if any1 in NSW has the expertise to help me replace this or if any1 from other states has a really detailed walk through so that i may attempt this myself!!!!

I tried it once with head liner glue from Autobarn ~ $30. It only held for another week then fell again.
If you do it yourself be sure to get 3 or more layers of glue EVERYWHERE or it may not work.

mine needs doing too, my missus got hers done on her corolla, she took it to a place and they put a new one in, im thinking of just biting the bullet and getting it done, PS the new material looks so much better than just a re-glued one

I agree. Also when I tried to do mine the glue seeped through the liner and stained it.

Just go to the wreckers and get a later model one and change it cost $60 around the it fixed take 30 to do it
You can do a decent job yourself for about $50 using thin felt from Spotlight or similar and a 500ml tin of Kwikgrip. I've done 2 cars this way and whilst it is a bit time consuming to do a proper job, the result makes it all worthwhile. This link gives a good desciption of doing it in a Commodore - Magnas have identical headlining, plastic clips and problems so it is applicable.

3m Hi Tak Adhesive - 76
Thats the SHIZ!
I was given some of this by my neighbour - They use this to tack on Signage and the like to Mining Hammers/Rock Breakers etc.
I used it on my Amp Boards in the boot and its good stuff!
Take a look at mcs_xi's Members Machine thread - He redid his lining too!

Personally mate I would pay the $270, the quotes I got ranged from $300-$400.
Also take into consideration the materials/glue needed(which you take off the $270) & the fact that you might not be happy with your own handy work anyway, up to you in the end man but thats my 2cents anyway.

You have to be careful, I tried to redo a headliner that hadnt begun to sag and the issue there is all the old glue came off with it, meaning all I was left with was the template and no reinforcement so it ended up limp and impossible to trim. My thoughts are you should be alright to do it yourself If it is sagging because once you remove the material and foam the old glue should be hardened so the headliner template should be very easy to trim from that point.
Firstly for glue I used either Permatex (orange can from Autobarn) or 3m 76 Hi Tack, both excellent glues and will hold no worries aslong as you put enough on. As for material I would be looking for a headliner specific material as that will already have a foam backing on it and it'll be very hard to get glue to actually seep through it.

What is the best way to slide one in? I just bought one from a wreckers and was going to wait a few weeks or so until the front screen was replaced.

I found a place at Peakhurst that replaces the liner with new, matching cloth for $200. He's done 2 of my Magnas and they've been spot on.

Anyone know of one around the hunter/newcastle that this can be done? Would be nice to have my hair not ruined by the headlining every morning :p haha

I payed $150 for mine, only because its time consuming and I didnt have the time to spare, but make sure you scrub the board well before your respray or apply! KWIK GRIP (AEROSOL) is the way to go!

iv done it on 3 cars now 2 were magnas. i just used cheap auto 1 aerosol glue for $15! Seems to have worked for over a yr now. but yeah u definatly have to clean all the old crap off so it doesnt go all lumpy
The roof lining in my car (TP) came adrift about two years ago. I tried twice to fix it myself, but each time it only stayed up for a few weeks. I ended up taking it to Mike Cooper Motor Trimming in Hornsby and now it looks as good as new. I can't remember exactly how much it was, but it was around $300, which is in line with some of the other prices mentioned inn this thread.

Ooops, slow reply, sorry.
No, they're on Stanley St, Peakhurst. Top End Interiors.
I'm happy with the quality and price of the work they did for me.

I was quoted over $600 for mine as I have a sunroof.
This meant I would take my own time to do it and do it myself. I used 3M Hi Tack 76 as it is literally the best glue and is heat treated. Trimmers use it!
All up it took 4m of trim (3m for a non sunroof car) and 2 cans of glue so around $160 for my car. Oh and the cost of the dye for the plastics to match. Better than $600 and the material is very very nice. ($25/m)

ive done it to an old commodore by just grabbing replacement headlining. was very quick and easy to do, took me half hour tops. its just a case of unscrewing whatever's in the way, removing old (through the back doors or through the boot if wagon) and then doing the reverse with the new lining :)
not very detailed explanation but it is quite an easy job to do.
hopefully that helps
good luck
Nice Work MCS_xi !!! That looks tops !! My rooflining is starting to sag @ an exponential rate !!! I agree with everyone about the 3M 76 Hi-Tac adhesive. It's the best stuff for automotive that require these sorts of adhesives. BTW where did you buy the rooflining material from As I need to do mine. Looks like synthetic suede.

Correct. It is synthetic suede.
I got it at spotlight. It is about $25/m
I used large amounts of prep and dye on the plastics. I also disassembled all the lights/visors etc so I could dye them all properly. Took some time. But it looks heaps better in person as the camera cant really photograph suede that well.

Thanks for the info mcs. I'll checkout my nearest spotlight stote this week as my rooflining is now trying to act like a hat on my head ;)

do you have to remove it, or does the shop do all the work?

Bought the black sythetic suede from Spotlight. I agree it looks way better than in the photos. just a question Mike. did you use any rolls of foam as underlay for your roof lining project or did you just remove the lot land direct stick the lining onto the plastic? Only asking as it will be my first attempt at doing this.
My work sells the 3M76 so I bought a couple of cans from there. I'm doing this at the same time as the leather interior which is also black so it should look shmicko when it all gets done.

Howdy.
I didn't use foam, but I probably should have. In any event, you are able to place the fabric on the cleaned headlining.
Cheers Mate. I have done the same thing and not bothered with the foam. Just letting it dry and then I will trim up any overhangs.

I have just done another one of these for a Verada without sunroof. It is a little bit harder to do without the sunroof opening providing some fabric flexibility near the sunvisors, but it turned out well.
Happy you went well with it.
Mike
