Hi everyone,
After taking my car to the mechanic a while back for an inspection, he noted that the "front struts are missing bump stops". What does this mean?
Is it something I should be concerned about? Is it something that even needs to get fixed at all? Can I put it off until I get the outer CV boot looked at for leaking a bit of grease?
Thanks!

It means they have more than likely disintegrated over time.
I would recommend either replacing the bump stops and if required, the shocks themselves too.
You can put it off if you're going to replace the whole shock, otherwise they'll just kill your shock a little quicker.

Not the biggest deal in the world but you should fix it up sooner rather than later if you want to preserve your struts. They are $55 a set so not too pricey. Better than 400+ to replace the struts.

we only drive the car on the weekends, so we don't plough through the mileage. Do you think it could wait until our next service at around 5 months from now? I will take it easy on the struts in the meantime.
Do you have standard ride height? If so, you don't have worry about doing them for a while. It's just a nice long job that mechanics can charge a nice sum for.
Reallllllly gotta do my bump stops... I'm crunching even moderate sized bumps in the road :/

yeah, no modifications that I know of (bought it used). Seems normal ride height to me.
Ordered a set from Supercheap.. will be fitting on Thursday..
I'm assuming the fitting procedure is in the MMAL service manual, but is there any tips or tricks to fitting them out there? I'm assuming they fit on the strut top itself, meaning I'll have to compress my springs and unbolt the top to fit them?

Yep pretty much.
Hrm... maybe I should buy a set of KYBs to put on at the same time then...
