Managed to talk myself up a deal on a pod kit round type for my TP, if it doesnt run after a comp reset 100% money back, somthing about it wont screw up the MAF as its 4.5" intake not 3" like most pods, The supplier said its ment to work on eirly magnas but unconfirmed hence im the test subject, they gave me 15% discount on the price of the kit and future discounds if it works as long as i send them a digi photo of it fitted, if it works i found a pod for the 1st gen's if it doesnt i get my cash back cant go wrong!
ill keep the masses here posted once ive tested it most probly next weekend.

hill runs before the head was retensioned isn't a good idea. i just couldn't contain myself
i don't c why it wouldn't work for the carby cars. though im under the impression it's a kit specifically for the efi cars. that is, specific piping to fit in the efi engine bay. u might b able to modify it again to fit it on the end of the carby airbox assembly but i c that as a waste of time. then again, maybe im biased. i just love this open air filter :D

"Kit" as in includes 4.5" mount adaptor to bolt it upto the maf & pod brace, no ducts etc
xf/weber carb is probly the best gains you could get on a non efi magna, just adaptors can be a pain, as for the pod LLama done it maybe he can make up a howto: for the carb guys
Tm red any pics of how your carb/air filter looks in that green engine bay of yours, it must come dam close to hitting the bonnet

best gains on a non efi magna? heard of turbo? there is also the twin carb manifold from the sigmas that can b grafted onto the magna, not to mention the whole turbo setup from the sigmas. its the same 2.6L engine. damn... poor efi guys, the best they can do is go directly turbo and get an engine management system. how much will that cost? love carb :D though i agree the adapter can b a pain. im sure there are better ways of doing it... we were just on a budget and used the tools we had.
no the filter on my car is only SLIGHTLY higher than the stock airbox assembly. the weber carb is the exact same height as the stock magna carb. it definately dosen't hit the underside of the bonnet anyway.
as for the green engine bay/white underside of bonnet... im over it for the $400 paintjob :D DIY can be fun.

kit incompatable with 1st get magna maf's the maf wire socket stops u from using the adaptor and the pot is wide enough to go over the maf 4.5" the pod is not tall enough it would hit the honeycomb looking sensor :( full refund is being arranged with a call to me to apologise, looks like its k$n for now
spending the rest if the day fitting a new boot pop cable and a handfull of tidbits i snapped up at the wreckers :)

you can get a circular uni which is the same as the stock one, then just cut out the cover of it..

least you gave it a whirl, wohooo i got my largish resonator today :D and they lined the tip/muffler up better so its flush nicely :D :spam:
I took that plastic resonator thing off ages ago and for a while ive had this idea to cut the front off the heat sheild / whatever, guard that holds the filter in, and so i did it yesterday.. and so it didnt work yesterday, i took some pictures with my phone so dont whine about quality but they do show enough, i'll upload them soon enough, anyway like i said i basically cut the end off, well the old man grabbed the grinder and went at it, but i held it. now i went for a lap around my suburb and it seemed fine, couldnt really feel any improvements until i was really flying, cause then obviously more air was going in and not so much hot engine bay air, but what i noticed was that night was the BWCP cruise for brisbane and sometimes when i stopped at lights it'd stall.. i've got a manual and i had the clutch in, but it'd drop to say 200rpm, then flick up to 800, then 200 like it was starving for fuel, which it wasn't.. yeah so after the cruise on the way home i slashed the old cover back on (i bought an extra one to butcher) and it ran fine, someone tell me whats under my nose please.

**** ey, my cover is totally off and the air filter held in there seems ok. i took it for a thrash the other night and it ran fine apart from when taking a u turn type corner it screeched to the ****ter and after a few more of the same i looked this morn and my tyre has some slight cut marks into it (front left). Looks like i'll have to get my guards rolled at the front, i want stiffer suspension but no cash atm. I took my car for more punishment after work today and it did ok, same as normal really. least u got manual :P

lol sounds like u did what i did when i put the old air housing back on forgot to plug the MAF back in i got from my house to bursons (F*% closed was too late) and idle was up and down between 1000-200rpm turned the car off pluged the maf back in (socket on the back of the airfilter in the car park with some funny looks) and it was fine, decided to hit the wreckers for some cosmetic tidbits, came out with boot pop cable, ashtray for one of the doors i was missing rear part of the centre consol (wanted one with a storage box thing as the tp had only a tray) while i was out managed to get another air filter as mine was f*&%ed i dont think its ever been changed the top of it was rusty! the new one seems to have less filter stuff in it compaired to the origional?
Spent my sunday re-routing rca leads to my amp to try stem a low lvl hiss (turns out i fubared the cd player and its not the amp at all) and fitted all the bits i got on saterday morning, done a ecu/maf reset as i put in a new air filter went for a run and omg! alot more power the old filter must of been cloged to the F&^% spun the wheels turining at a roundabout not trying with the wife in the car got a punch in the arm for it  so i decided well ive been punished time to finish the job and planted the foot to keep em squealing :bowrofl: wile i was doin the filter i was wondering has anyone tryed running ducting from the grill to airfilter housing?
ecu/maf reset as in leave a terminal off the battery for an hour? really changing a filter shouldn't need a reset. i'm hoping to get a decent price on rewiring the battery to my boot (that bit behind the back seat but infront of the board that hides the back of your seat so its hidden) like a drycell so i never have to do any maintenence on it, and then install my stereo gear, then i can get some rubber bends etc.. and move the filter right where the battery sits, maybe get rid of the cover and go with a ricer style heat sheild.

Hey, I called up goodyear where i got a stud drilled out and disc machined etc, i said how much he said they dont have the machine but he said just give it a whirl yourself, a towel and a hammer lol. I'm thinking i'll try it myself, i know its bound to peel my paint off somewhere tho, since it old...I havnt called up other places for prices yet.
