Hi guys,
Just trying to do a service on my daily
It's a 2001 Hyundai Accent
Porblem is when I went to remove the old oil filter it seems to be on then really tight
Have tried removing it the which case has dented the oil filter
Is there any other way or something I can buy to remove it more easily?
Cheers

Get a oil filter remover from Supercheap (the one with the metal adjustable ring and red plastic handle), get some non-slip matting (the bumpy, rubbery-foam thin matting you can get from Crazy Clarks or Woolworths). Wipe down the body of the filter, so its clean; then place a big enough length of the matting over the top of the remover so that when you attempt to use the remover on the filter, the matting grips the filter and sits between it and the filter remover (acts as kind of a grippy net). Remove as normal.
I did this on a Tucson with a stuck filter (same filter as yours) , it did the job nicely.

Another method which I've used, which admittedly is a bit ghetto, is to hammer a large screwdriver right through the old filter, from side to side.
Make sure you do it near the bottom of the filter (away from the thread) and you leave enough room to get some good twist going on the screwdriver once you've hammered it through.
On a 3rd gen a roughly 45 degree angle of attack worked for me.
I only resorted to this method after trying three different sized filter removing tools and none of them gripped the smallish Z456 filter worth a pinch of shite.
Having what in hindsight was obviously an overtightened filter didn't help.
After learning my lesson I have never overtightened a filter since.
Dunno if this would work on a Hyundai Accent though.

I found the oil filter wrenches, with the red metal handle and black round strap work the best. I for the life of me cannot understand the chain or rope ones, but the plastic/metal ones work best for me.

I had a similar problem with my magna when I first bought it. Did an oil change and the filter wouldn't come off. Turns out that the previous yobbo owner stuck it down with some liquid nails...... had to shove a screwdriver through the filter to rip the thing off. Obviously a new gasket on there too. Some people just... NFI
