Hi fellas

Well my wides kj2 Verada we bought a few months back, had slight ticking noise but had that before on my old tf Magna so didn't stress.

After reading some threads I just completed the following,

Wynns supreme engine flush
Penrite hpr10 gas oil
Wynns supreme engine protect (friction proof)

Odometer when purchased 155k, now just over 158k.

Noticed on cold start today that ticking noise is more prominent (louder) than before.

No oil leaks or anything caused by flush (yet), noise stays around longer too.

How to find out what it is and is there a good mechanic in Melbourne to perhaps quote me to fix?

Appreciate the help, cheers Pete

And just for further info,

Did exactly the same treatment on the kl this morning and no ticking cos on the kl there was none to begin with. Using penrite hpr10 gas obviously cos there both now on impco mixer LPG. Smooth with no dramas yet :)

My TH makes a ticking noise. I'm yet to find what makes the particular noise and why it does it. Let me know how you go.

You're in Melbourne, so I suggest to get in touch with Mal (MadMagna). He's over in the eastern suburbs (Canturbury Road, IIRC).

Noisy tappets. Very common issue on cold start. Relatively easy fix. Not going to kill your engine.

Thanks, was hoping for a confirmation that it was really ok, noise does go away when engine is warm.

You say its a relativley easy fix, does that also mean relatively cheap??

Also as I tried the engine flush and it didnt help that noise, is there another Wynns product that might fix this??

Cheers Pete

The flush will make the sound more pronounced because you clear out the sludge to get metal on metal contact. Wynns supreme is a good oil treatment but won't fix your noisy tappets. I think the fix involves a couple of seals. Cheap fix. Less than $100 I believe. Do a search. I am sure it has been covered.

Sorry but I will have to totally disagree with you here

For starters you DONT get metal on metal contact unless you have no oil, the sound is not metal on metal contact either

The flush will do wonders for noisy tappets provided they are not totally blocked and the flush can get through them, add the Wynns Tune Up afterwards and again will do wonders after a day or so of driving. Have done this to many customers cars including members here and have even on occasion heard the noise dissapear as the car idled

Also consider using the mitsubishi engine oil treatment and engine oil flush - with HPR10 Penrite oil.

Been doing it in my car with 250km on the clock and sounds better that 90% of the motors with 120km on it.

I know this thread is a bit old but I had a small tick when the engine was cold so I added the engine tune up and the noise got a lot louder. Hopefully after a few days it goes to work :/

You should have used oil flush first, change the oil, then add engine tune up.......

The engines not that bad so I figured it only needed the tune up. The bottle claims it frees sticky lifters, the same product worked wonders in my Holden 5l. The bottle also says it can take 1500kms to take effect I'll see how it goes
