i just remove my car head unit today and i am going to change it to the clarion double din cx201.
but i found that, the harness of the 2001 verada is two-plug type, one small plug and one large plug~
it is so strange, i checked from the internet and i found that the 2001 verada should be the one plug type harness~
could anyone help me!? i really don't understand.

The extra plug is for a couple of things.

Your new HU will be fine if you do not use the extra small plug

It is for either the half height antenna function or the steering wheel remote controls.

thanks mike!!
anyway~ i bought two harness to connect the HU.
one is Clarion to ISO Harness (APP8CLA) and the other one is late model magna to iso harness (app0111).
but i wonder how to connect them together.
coz there is one extra black wire in the app0111 which chassis ground written on it. Should I just connect it to the screw nearby?
and there are 3 more extra wires in the APP8CLA harness. they are phone mute lead, amplifier turn on lead and ground lead.
what should i do with them?
thanks!

The factory audio grounds through the chassis of the radio.

Aftermarket audio needs to have an extra, screw. There is one to the passenger side where the frame connects. Perfect.

The phone lead can connect to a wire in the extra plug. The amp lead can remain unconnected and the phone can remain unconnected to.

what do you mean by grounds through the chassis of the radio?
I think i will just leave the phone lead and amp lead unconnected and
ground the aftermarket audio to the screw of the metal frame~~
thanks mike!

Factory radios supplied by Mitsu have no groud wire. They are earthed when you screw
Them to the HU metal brackets and when that is screwed to the car. The metal box on the outside of the radio (it's chassis) is the earth.

Aftermarket HU, have ground wires. Hence the extra black one.

Put a ring end on it and find a screw in the radio area (inside the dash that connects to metal. The black wire need to be earthed. Simple.
