After nearly 5yrs with my 2007 vrx I am due to get my brakes done very soon...ie rotors replacement & pads. Have seen the slotted type they look good but are they any better than the factory ones on this car. Some recommendations & approx. costs will be gratefully appreciated...

A quick skim of your current discs and some middle of the road Bendix pads is all you need.

Bendix GCT's are a good OEM replacement, but the QFM for 50ish more are better, offering more feel and bite.
I've had the gct's on both 380 brake setup for a while, and recently went the QFM's, glad I did.

My 380 has just had fitted to it the 4000 series slotted with the QFM, brakes feel very good.

I have plently of the 380 QFM in stock, have decided to sell my last set of series 4000 slotted I was going to use on my Wagon if anyone is interested

Imo slotted rotors aren't worth the money unless you drive hard occasionally as all they do it reduce brake fade.

Yeah, but "they look good". (from first post) lol

is there any quicker wear of Pads with slotted rotors, I'd imagine there would be.

I just did first wheel wash with the QFM's, there seem just a touch dustier, not bad though, do slotted discs dirty the wheel up quicker as well.

I first fitted QFM HPX pads about 18 months ago on stock rotors, bugger all dust.

About 5 months ago I fitted new DBA 4000 slotted front rotors and new HPX pads (nothing wrong with the old pads, barely worn, it was just a package deal rotors & pads), and still bugger all dust.

But I rarely hit the brakes hard or get them really hot, so maybe not definitive.

KJ.

Tbh pad choice is most important. It can clamp harder on.different compounds and also adjusts dust. fluid is second most important thing. Spending $40 and getting a dot 5.1 castrol or similar will reduce brake fade on spirited drives significantly.

Ive got Slotted DBAs and 380 Calipers on my KJ..

Yes.. The slotted rotors do make things a little dustier than usual.. But going through Mount Nebo/Glorious here in Brissie.. There's next to NO fade, in comparison to some of the other guys I run with.

If you like giving it a bit of a run.. Definitely a GREAT choice.

DBA Slotteds and QFM HPX Pads - Winner for me!
