Hey guys
Wanting to update the wifes ei interior to GTV/Xi leather interior.
Having trouble finding interiors around, but was going to start with the
leather door trims. Still hard to find.
Has anyone ever just bought some nice perf leather or something, pulled
the standard trim out, used as a template and cut the new leather to suit??
Would I need to mould it do you think, or could this be an easy start??
Cheers Pete

Yep, can be done. I've done it several times, doing the seats and other trim, but with automotive fabric rather than leather.
Door cards should be easy. Just remove, use as template, cut new stuff to size, glue down wrapping over the edges, and reinstall.
Seats are harder.
Couple of points to note.
Looking for a straight replacement at a wreckers - good luck finding a set - going to be old and pricey.
Check full retrim prices at automotive upholsterers - you will find labour costs are the biggest component.
A domestic sewing machine is not heavy enough to sew leather, it will just do the velour fabric. You need access to an industrial strength machine.
Seat panels will be stretched out of shape, panels can be cut using the current seat panels but you will need it trial fit the completed covers and be prepared to make adjustments.
Good luck if you decide to do the seats yourself.

I have a KH Xi here with full leather, the seats in the front are average and need a damn good clean, have not had a close look but as most of these car there is prob cracking in the drivers seat (usually in the leather not right through), if these are what you are after I will let the complete interior leather set go for $250 including the door trim inserts etc

Sounds like a good deal.
Buyer could look at just getting the driver's seat retrimmed professionally.

She won't be impressed by old leather. Get some quotes from car re-upholstering shops. Fresh leather is best. Be prepared to spend big though.

I know, but I just can't spend big. Your right though, the current interior of the ei is mint, will keep looking though, couple of things on the cards hopefully :)
