Hi guys

Just as it says, I know the earlier kh interior goes into the kj.

My question is

1. Would the interior from a kw Gtvi go into my kj2 Verada?
2. Would I need to take the seat base mounts as well or would
The kj seat base be ok?

Cheers in advance guys, Pete

Bolts straight in, jut remember that the kw interior will have side airbags in the front seats and as such technically need to be functional to be roadworthy. Doesn't affect the ability to bolt the interior in though.

Thanks lugo, will the fronts use my seat base though.

And regarding the rwc, is that correct. What is involved in hooking up the side airbags?

Cheers

Air bags can be wired in quite easily as long as you can remove the dash to attach the wiring. Theoretically they can be wired in to your drivers air bag so they inflate at the same time.

Thanks dreggzy :)

Would this be a job for an auto elec or would it be more specialized?

Doesn't sound like it would be too expensive then?

Bolts straight in.

Well either my car's not 'normal' or this information is incorrect. lol lol

I can assure you that these seats do NOT bolt straight in. Some modification is needed to get them to fit as the front studs in the car floor don't line up perfectly with the holes in the base.

If anyone here cares to explain how to just drop them in & bolt them up, I'd greatly appreciate it! (The rears do however, just bolt in.)

They certainly do not bolt straight in, ask Hulkstar about the pain of getting KL/KW seats bolted in to his TJ ralliart

As for wiring up side-impact airbags to go off with the wheel airbag, BAD idea. A side impact collision is the only time they should be deployed. Incorrect depoyment of an airbag can be fatal.

Well that'd make you the first of the few people I've spoken to over the years who've fitted the later interiors, they all failed to mention any modification to the rails. Unless of course they swapped the rails from their old seats? Do you know if they bolt up? I assume you tried that?

I've only fitted the passenger seat so far & I've done nothing with the airbag as yet. IF I decide to keep them in the KJ, I'll probably look into removing the airbag & having that side re trimmed.

I know of a few people who've fitted these seats who all said it was just a matter of filing a few mm to get them to fit. It isn't. It's just a matter of making a new hole in one corner of the base - simple yes, bolt in no. When I think of bolt in, I think of a 5 minute job. Drills/ tools aren't involved in my 5 minute jobs. Beers are!! lol lol

Edit: I didn't bother trying to swap bases as the only bases I've got here are attached to 2 different leather interiors, which I'll sell at some stage & I don't really want to leave them without bases. Might look into it though as the L/ W series bases have different feet & require different covers. My interior didn't come with them & Mitsu will probably charge an arm & a leg for replacements. :)

After a small nick with the dremel they bolted straight in. It took longer to plug the dremel into the then to make the hole bigger. I since got ripped off by a fellow member who passed them onto Doddski who paid out his shitter for them.

If you've had to drill a whole hole then maybe your rails are skewered from the previous owner adjusting the seat on the rail and only moving one rail and not both at the same time. Im starting to think maybe the AWD floorpan is slightly different in regards to the seat mount points.

I don't think there was anything wrong with the rails as such. I've seen Madmagna's seats & I had to do the same as him.

Certainly not just a quick nip with the dremel, although your experience is similar to what a few other members have told me. Which bolt hole did you modify, do you remember?

What I have done several time when installing them is simply drill a new hole in the inboard front rail, the other 3 line up perfectly, did this in my Wagon, Sams AWD as well as others
