Anyone know if this will work with the 380? Wonder if it would cost much just to get it cut and programmed?

Chadstone mitsubishi quoted me $350 for the key and programming if I bought it from them

The US keys don't have the transponder so are only good if you want to replace a broken housing for an existing key.

Lame! That sucks... so pretty much just have to bite the bullet and pay the full price?

Not sure if there are any other options. A few on here have posted about this before so the search option might be handy or they may jump in with some advice when they see this.

i have read many of the other threads here about it, I just wasn't sure if the key I linked was different as it states its a transponder key.. (i know there are cheap blanks that sell for around the $30 mark or less but this one is a lot more pricey)
Does anyone know the mitsubishi part number of the replacement keys??

Some locksmiths are able to cut and clone your current key to a new one. Don't know if the 380 key can be done, or the price, but it might be worth asking around.

So I'm guessing that's bullshit then? I'm pretty sure I read that you bought one from the US.. was it like this? Only asking because it would suck to waste $100 on this and then end up paying the local stealership price ontop of it.

Have you tried sending them a message and asking if it wil work with the 380? I guess Mal is right, it is a Mitsi dealer & it does say transponder but I know someone on here bought one from the US & it wasn't compatible transponder wise.

My suggestion: Buy the key off eBay, pay with Paypal, and if it is not as described, put in a Paypal claim and get your money back.
This has worked for me with one or two items.
(From the price and the fact it is a Mitsu dealer, and the packaging, it looks like the real thing. Check the part number - MN141381 - with your local dealer to be sure it is for the 380.)

One issue with that Max, the item description does NOT list this as being suitable for a 380 so why on earth would someone purchase this key knowing it may not work on a car that it is not listed to work on and then hold the supplier responsible
Anyone buying this key does at thier risk, if you get it and it works awesome, if not you still have a spare key you can hide outside the car to get in if you do lock yourself out.......win win
It really shits me when people buy something from my ebay store (the key is not one of mine lol) knowing it may not work and then jump on the bandwagon making claims for refunds etc etc when they knew the risk from the very beginning. This sort of attitude sucks balls big time and is part of what has made e-bay so difficult to run from a selling point of view. People need to take responsibility for a change and realise that it is THEY who take that risk. Very different if the description states xyz will do this and that and it does not however

Got a response from chadstone Mitsubishi.. the part number on the one I linked on eBay is incorrect.. but they did tell me correct one :) MN141545
A quick google search and I found heaps of websites selling them for $130
Getting it cut is easy, but getting it programmed will be the hard thing.
Here's to hoping it works :)

Doubting this is going to work.. messaged an US ebay seller about the key and told him every single number that was printed on the back of the remote shell and even the tiny numbers on the transponder chip. Response was good.. he said he checked one he had there told me it had every number exactly the same. I even said in bold "Probably the most important thing to ensure compatibility will be the numbers printed on the transponder chip".
Key arrived yesterday and everything matches up beside the numbers printed on the transponder chip. fml.
Would someone awesome do me a favour and post the numbers that are printed on the back of the transponder chip inside their remote? Just want to make sure they are not unique for each key..
My current key has printed on the chip:
PCF7941
E382701
Tn05401

Josh,
Opened up my spare key, the first/top row of numbers is the same as yours, but the second & third rows are different.
My numbers are:
PCF7941
D744807
Tn05191
And no, I'm too old and feeble of sight to read the numbers, I got my son to read them off and write them down for me!

Transponder 1
C80-62CM-A (maybe first letter is G not C) - old age, bad eyes even with magnify glass
FCC 10:OUCG80-62OM-A
IC 850G-G80620GMA
OMRON Corporation Japan
283701 - LOOKS LIKE SERIAL NUMBER

FCC 10:OUCG80-62OM-A
IC 850G-G80620GMA
OMRON Corporation Japan

And MN141545 is the part number on my invoice when I got a second key from local dealer

My Sep 2010 invoice was
Supply and program MIMM 141545 Key/transmitter $237.38
sublet cut key to copy $30.00
Not enough detail on invoice to separate part cost vs program cost - worst case 237 is 'program inclusive'
There is another site
http://www.programyourremote.com/classified/displayad.asp?id=982
that claims to show how to add a remote via OBDII jumper wires etc, but I have not tried

Hmm might still work then I paid $80 off eBay for the key.. just need to get it cut and might have to pay Mal a visit for programing.. don't think I wanna risk following the diy instructions for programing unless someone can confirm it works :)

Agree
A big risk if you ground yourself by killing all the keys accidentally!
I also think (IIRC) that there is a max of 5? keys can be in car ECU at any one time, so a dealer visit may be a better option

Snapped off the transponder section from the key part of my only key in the ignition this morning. Made the mistake of turning off the ignition, silly me couldn't start her up again. Towed to Albion Park Mitsubishi. New key - PART No 141545 cost $259.32
cut key - sublet cost $30
program key cost $72.72
GST $36.20
total $398.25

. . . . plus the tow truck costs.
Silly to have only one key. If you are in this situation of having only one key, organise a spare soon. Going to save money in the long run.

Strange as transponder is in the remote. I often get wrecks where the keys are wrecked when the steering column collapses, as long as I can find the remote on the floor I can change ign barrel, use original remote and get car to run with no issues

Once cut please do drop over as I am keen to look at the key regardless
