Well, after a long time apart from my car (read: broken, working too much, no time, etc., etc.) I need to rekindle the love with my baby, and the magna scene -- and the time has come for the manual conversion.

I can acquire all the parts relatively cheap and was wondering if anyone has done the conversion to a 3.0 V6 TR/TS before? I've read a few posts about the 2.6 conversion sucesses (keeping existing ecu, etc) and was wondering if I get away with keeping my ECU?

If all goes well financially, etc I could well be doing this conversion on the weekend -- Guru doesn't quite know it yet but he'll be my cheap/free labour to help! lol

As mal has said before, the LHS mount will need to move, but other than that it sounds like a straight swap.

Good luck mate, it'll be good for someone to finally do this :)

it will run fine without changing the ecu, to test this, unplug the atcu and make sure it runs.

only problem i am experiencing is that i have a big flatspot comming off idle, from what i can gather, this is the ecu retarding the timing (only goes to about 1800rpm, then shes all good. not to worried about it at this stage as im replacing the whole engine management system in the next couple months :D

Actually KB, its just a straight transmission swap as he already has the V6 from the Verada, so all he'd be needing would be the running gear (clutch assembly, etc) & he should be sweet. The only time the LHS engine mount needs changing is from a 4 cyl to a V6 transplant.

Should be interesting to see this done, good luck!

i've done it its straight forward the only mods to be done are cut hole in the firewall for the clutch master, rewire your reverse light and theres a line u have to bypass on the old autotrans wiring(the one that stops u from being able to start the car in Drive). oh and the most important one of all that i over looked when i did mine resulting in me having to take it apart again, theres a bush on ya crank shaft that locaits in ya auto trans it only sicks out about 3mm and looks like its part of it but its not , it must come out because when u go to put the flyweel on it sticks out 3mm too far causing the clutch to stay permantly engaged.
As far as ya computer u dont have to touch a thing it'll work sweet. :)

id still like to do this to mine but i havnt worked up the nerve to do it yet. Dont really wanna stuff it up. So is it ok if i ask you to take many pictures of the procedure as you go MAGNA?

Needed
Clutch hydrolics
Gear shift and cables
Gear box
Starter Motor
Clutch
Flywheel
Console Surround

The KR ECU will be fine, it is the KS that has a bit of a fit as it retards the timing at idle while in gear.

You will have to play a bit too as the cruise will need a clutch switch and also a few wiring mods to enable the cruise to work and to bypass the inhibitor switch.
