Im planning on making some modding my rear bar to make some space for my new exhaust.. and Im not quiet sure how to go about it, in terms of tools, and how to go about it.. as I plan not to dive into it and hack it up with a hacksaw hoping for the best..

Ive also got this dent on the right corner (as you can see in the image, is there any way of getting that out? its rather a bump then a dent if you get me.)

use a proper nibbler! dont use a hacksaw otherwise it will be rough as and they dont cut corners very well! if u take ya time and make sure its smooth enough you shouldn't have too many problems

Sorry to go off the topic, but if you are planning on getting a cannon, I reckon they look very nice angle mounted without needing to touch the bumper at all. If not, HACK AWAY! lol

Cheers for that.. a nibbler ay? I think you can get them from bunnings for $50?
Im thinking of taking the rear bumper right off so I can get a perfect cut for my exhaust fitting, and fix that bump out; What is holding the rear bar up? arnt they held to the shell by some sort of bolts? clip on style?

Thanks for that eek, I plan on mounting it as angled as possible, similar to wrx/supra/jap car that has a stainless hks system, just for that hardcore dorifto look :bowrofl:

After seeing braez muff back fire like a mofo, I just had to have one lol

Im just thinking if I should dive into this.. or if i should just get someone professional to do it for me.. Just to be on the safe side.

Im also thinking of just mounting it under the bar as it is, then saving up for some sport skirts or maybe designing my own custom ones.. Hmmm all these ideas

The rear bumper facia is made of 7~8mm thick of soft plastic. I cut my with a sharp knife to give my RedBack muffler extra 70mm of room to move, and it was very easy. Just make sure your knife is sharp, you may want to use a new stanley knife, they are very sharp when new, I don't think a hack saw would give you a smooth cut.

Mark out your desired cut area first.

When using a knife or stanley knife, don't do sawing action, all you do is slice it in one go, (eg stab the knife into the plastic and push forward or pull towards you, that way you' won't get any rough edges.)

It took a couple of mins to take out a small rectangle of 100mm x 50mm

Good luck,

Thanks for that fellas.

Whitedevil: Thats a great idea.. I think I will do it this way.. Did you fully remove the rear bar? or cut it while its on? silly question it may be.. but Ive never done this before..

I was also considering just purchasing some sport kit rear pods and skirts.. and modding the rear pods to fit the cannon..

i would draw on area u want cut out, hacksaw (fine tooth one) then sand to edges or use a dremel with a sanding bit on it for a smooth finish

I cut the the rear bumper with it still on the car, I just lay on the ground and slowly pulled the stanley knife along the markings I drew beforehand. It works, but you need to take your time, don't rush the cut, you don't want to slice yourself with a sharp stanley knife.

It should be easy enough to cut out while the bumper is on the car.

Martin.

I might just leave the rear bar as it is.. an saving up for sport kit sideskirts and rear pods and modding them to fit the exhaust as there is still quiet a lot of space.

Use a hair dryer to heat up the area, but not to much as it will scorch the paint. Then use something other than your hand (like a broom handle) from behind to push back into place.
