have to take whole bar off.
upper grill has scrivets at the top, clips in at the bottom
lower grill can only be taken off from behind the bar i think

Yep, done it four times now, once with Michael's help.
The joys of fitting HIDs and then finding out they don't work with 380 lenses and need to go back to 'ordinary' bulbs!
Plus two fittings of LED strips on the headlights (the first el cheapo ones gave up the ghost fairly quickly).
Two slightly tricky bits, the scrivets holding the two plastic undertrays and the bottom of the bar, and the six bolts (three each side) holding the sides of the bar to the chassis.
Those scrivets are pricks of things to remove, the trick is to forget they are screws (you'll just turn forever going nowhere fast) and instead lever them out with a small flat blade screw driver to start with, then grip them with needle nose pliers and pull them out.
One of the side bolts (one on each side) is hidden a fair way 'up' and you'll need a reasonably long extender bar on your socket driver to reach it. They are 10mm bolts.

I've done it without taking the bar off.
I hit a dog and trashed the old grill, the new one just clipped in.

The scrivets are designed to be pried out as many had issues with the older style
To fit a cooler however you do need to remove the bar, have done more than I care to count here now

Dealer fitted trans cooler to my car only removing the top grill which just pulls out after you remove the 6 scrivets on top. (viewed the install when they were haifway through the job) cooler is mounted by four plastic type bolts passed through the air conditioning condenser flutes. Been there for a couple of years now with no issues.

If you want to mount the cooler nice & securely you will need to pull the whole bar off, I've done it twice now with my original cooler & now my big one. It's not that bigger job really just a lot of plastic scrivets & a few screws .....

agreed with Foozrcool... when you want nice access to all the area you need to take whole bar off... its not that difficult - i have done it myself and fitted tranny cooler myself... i have bigger square one (cooler) so this would not be possible thru the grill only... also I opted to not install it directly on the condenser... i molded 2 aluminum flat bars and screwed the cooler on them... also the trany cooler manufacturer recommends the pipping to be in some position for best operation... so you need to do piping alternatively... get the bar off ;-)
