hi all
this is the verada i bought from jontz
it runs (ran) perfectly up until today
now the problem is i started it to listen to music without draining the battery this afternoon
i walked across to get a rake (as i was cleaning out the garden) and the car stalled no unusual noises or anything just stalled.
it will not start at all now it turns over but wont catch
i originally thought i ran out of fuel so i went and got another 5 litres and still no dice
the fuel pump whirs when i try to start the car so i know the problem isnt that.
havnt had a chance to check the fuel filter yet
one other thing i am hearing
when i turn the key to on (just before trying to start) i get a click and then a louder click from the engine bay that i wasnt getting before and i cant narrow it down (it kinda sounds like the click i used to get from the dodgy wires on my second gens dissy)
but it cranks easy (not so much now as i flattened the battery)
any ideas?

Take a look at all of the relays and fusable links in the engine bay.
Easy thing to check..

How long was the car running for? Because i thought it had to above a certain Rev range before the alternator charges the battery?
Take the spark plug lead out and have a look it you get spark when you crank it. That noise you are talking about could be the idle stepper motor (just on the troddle body?)

If the engine is cranking but not starting you may have the good old immob issue

If you have spark - means that immob is working.
Also when cracking the car have a look with a voltameter the drop on the battery voltage.

No, spark will still work with no immob, it cuts the injectors

I had the immob problem and was getting sparks at the plugs.
You can check the injector pulses by getting a dashboard bulb and wiring it across the injector connector, get someone to spin the motor on the starter and watch the bulb if it tries to light (it'll be weak so try it in the dark) then the immobilised isn't the issue. No light, then speak to Madmagna for replacement modules. He beat the wreckers prices by a long way and had them to me quick. Bit of a PIA to fit the ECU, but all up and runnig now.

if low on battery would that stop the injectors firing or the spark? i only ask because i am getting 11.5v accros the battery XD which means when i try to start i would be getting like 10.

11.5v is not enough, maybe the battery has had it.

i gathered but it should still spark shouldnt it? and it started for a breif time when i had it working before it conked out. (altho i did turn up my stereo) perhaps i drained it faster than it could replenish the drain from the starter?

found out it doesnt injector pulse or have spark (whattaya know) seems my crank angle sensor is gone. what do you guys think?

Crank angle sensor would give you a check engine light. Do you have yours lit?
windwolf

nope.
would it nessicarally have a check engine light tho?
is there anything else that would effect both the spark and the injector pulse?

right. suftz i am sorry to say you dont win. dregzy you where on the money when you said that it wasnt the crank angle.
what i have found (and am sure the problem is) is that my ignition coil. where the resistance should be .5-.7 ohms its 1.4-1.5 ohms. me thinks i have found my issue. if someone has a cheap dissy they can send me that would be really helpful (will pay postage and asking price)
thanks
