Hello all,

For months now the globes in my hang up button on my bluetooth module hasn't been working. Now my call button has given up the ghost.

Does anyone know what kind of globe/led these take?

Cheers boys and girls

Got me interested - now I also notice they are not controlled by the instrument dimmer!

Alright, not really much of an update but nonetheless. I've pulled my BT apart and had a look at the globes. They are not LED their small halogen type globes soldered into a little plastic housing piece that had a blue silicone type sock covering the globe to give it that white ish kind of look.

Now for the disappointing part. I cannot find these globes ANYWHERE!!!

I've been to supercheap Auto, autobahn, Jaycar and bursons which I was then told to try a guy that fixes clusters as he may have the globes I require. I went and saw him he couldn't help. He said he's never seen anything that small soldered into a housing like that before.

He said to try Mitsu. I went to Mitsu and they do not sell any parts for the BT module individually and the only other option I have is to buy another new module which is $68 bucks. If worst comes to worst I'll bite the bullet and get a new one but I'll see my mate at the dealer I usually go to for a bit of a discount....

I'll get some pics later!

I pulled my switch apart yesterday to change the backlit colors to green and red.

Anyway, while I was there, the globes look the same size, type and color as the mode switch in Magnas.

Maybe grab one from a TH as they contain 3 bulbs and you would be able to access them at any wreckers.

Mike,

You sir are a legend. Today i went searching again in some more shops for these globes with no luck. I went to the wreckers on the way home and pulled two globes out one worked one was blown (didn't bother checking) went back in and thought I won't get caught out again so i went in search for every TF model I could find and took the globes out and now I have spares!!!

I had a look at the TH ones and the globe itself looks a little taller I grabbed some anyways but have not yet ried to see if they work yet.

I've done a little step by step walk through to removing the BT module opening it up replacing globes and re installation. As they say, a picture tells a thousand words. Here goes......

**insert sarcasm**

First off, locate your BT module, this is usually located on your dash just below your indicator stalk surrounded by some fake plastic marble, yours should look like this

http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/4476fd4a.jpg

Now for my favorite part, gently push the BT buttons in till your finger slips into the hole, careful, it's tight!

http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/5f34464c.jpg

Hook your finger behind this facia and pull out towards you like this

http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/d6788911.jpg

Once you've fished out the BT module disconnect it so you can pull the bloody thing apart and take it inside to your preferred sitting area, kitchen table worked wonders for me.

http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/c0f18b29.jpg

If going in via the front hole isn't really your thing, go around the back, you can just about get your whole hand up in there, as they say when your being given safety instructions on a plane "remember, there's always an exit behind you"

http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/39613f01.jpg

Your BT module should look like this....

http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/82bcf0e7.jpgand again http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/8e89205c.jpg

Now with a small flat head screw driver/butter knife or (like me your finger nails) pry it open

It should now look like this.....

http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/1a731c35.jpghttp://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/f188d340.jpg

Twisting the globes from underneath will have them pop out very easily

http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/510a2b42.jpg

Now, below are the globes I've got, to the far left are the standard ones that come inside the BT module, in the center are the globes from two TF magna's mode buttons and to the right are the TH globes from the mode button. If you know someone with a TF just nick them out of their car.....

http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/111b192b.jpg

Now just be carefull, the call and hang up buttons are spring loaded and some times like jumping out to say G'day so watch your eyes!!!!

http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/6598e9fa.jpghttp://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/d0588f4e.jpg

There are also these little spring type things that aren't fixed to anything so carefull not to lose them and make sure they are facing up so they make contact with the circuit board when you put it back together....

http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/5e48e4b0.jpg

Now that you've pinched your mates TF globes, before he catches you quickly start putting it back together

http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/8e6e0c4c.jpghttp://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/0c4ccdf3.jpg

Once everything is back in place start pitting it back together like so

http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/0cc5270b.jpg

It should hopefully look like this

http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/717aa73c.jpg

Go back out to your car and connect it up and make sure everything is working before putting it back inside the plastic surround it clicks into, turn on your lights and look to see that the buttons light up

http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/815ba8c5.jpg

If all good put it all back together and make it look the part again near that fake marble

http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab231/kif_380/4476fd4a.jpg

All done, now grab yourself a beer and tell yourself how ****ing awesome you are!!!!

I may look into that Mike, I was thinking of changing the colour of the silicone condom to give me a green colour for call and red for hang up but so far silicone covers in that size are near impossible to track down.

This was the funniest thing to read if you have no context!
