We had a car repaired and the repairer has left the nut off the lower control arm on the right front wheel.

I'm having the car re-assessed by the insurer.

My question is then, what damage could this have caused? What parts would be put under the most stress without the lower control arm attached?

Not impressed at all!!

Thanks again for anyone's input.

I doubt any damage unless has been like that for years

The nut holds the sleeve, some models dont have a nut at all and just have a pin which pushes into the bush anyway, aside from after time there may be a knock there shold not be an issue with that as long as the nut and washer are replaced and done with weight on the suspension

I would check the rest of the car that was done though, may have been put on but not tightened as may have other parts

Thanks for the reply Madmagna.

I had the nut added by a mechanic during the pink slip inspection.

It had been missing for some 5-6 months.

Are you saying that the car should be on the ground whilst the nut is tightened? He did it up whilst up on the hoist lift...

Any mechanic worth 2c would know that any suspension bush parts get tightened with load so as not to cause stress on the bush in the normal position
