Hi
Does anyone know what the part number for the plastic ( think it's plastic ) bash plate that goes under the front of the car on the oil filter side.
Need to find one :)

The splashguard?
Hi, I think so. Starts just under the bumper and looks like it covers some pipes underneath. My kl has one but the kj just has space there.

Flimsiest piece of plastic ever, definitely not a bash plate! lol
It is there to stop water from puddles getting to the alternator and drive belts.
All 3rd gens have them, but they get damaged and a lot of owners leave them off.
Look at wreckers for a good one, grab the clips too, or visit the Mitsu dealer.

Hi max
So is it a problem if I leave the car without one? Or are you saying I could get some water damage? Cheers Pete

Stay away from puddles!
Mitsu could have saved 50 cents per car leaving them off, so you can assume it's there for a good reason.

I had mine replaced when it broke - my mechanic was surprised to find a replacement new from Mitsubishi was only about $20... (18 months or so ago).

Thanks, don't suppose you have the part number? Hopefully the spare parts guy will understand what I mean :)

My mechanic made all the arrangements, so I never found out what the p/n was... :(

Seeing it's a flat piece of plastic, that's a reasonable price (for a Mitsu dealer). I'm thinking of making one up from some flat sheet galvanised iron. Going to stand up in use better than that plastic bit!

$17 to be precise. Your spare parts dealer will know what it is. Very commonly broken part.

mut make sure you inspect it regularly
I am too tight-arsed to buy a new one, even if I could, Mine is held together with 2 bits of wire and the main one I had to redrill and rescrew in several different places. It all hangs there OK
