Guys i have recently fitted a single din head unit into a Verada and can't seem to get the factory look.
Question is - how can i put a factory plastic din into a the console with wood grain and climate control?
The standard OEM doesn't fit - as the screws are on the front, this will only fit if the screws are on the sides of the DIN

you can get generic pockets that fit perfectly and look factory, i got mine from pickapart. sits flush and provides extra storage.

Superglue? drill some holes? That thing is going to need some modifying.

Yer not keen on going down that path, want to make it look as factory as possible.
I'm considering getting the console from exc model with Climate control and just attaching the wood grain but want to make sure that i can cover off an easier solution if possible

Didn't think so but hey, the options there. What about getting an aftermarket one? They are out there.

Goto your local Mitsu spares & grab a climate control compatible din....or hit up your local wreckers. The VRX's all came with a single din plus climate control.

i thought that there would've been an easier option?

You think dropping into your local spares dept/ wreckers & picking up a din pocket is hard? lol lol
A 'factory look', which is what your after usually requires a factory part. :)

If you're talking about the pocket/box under the head unit in a Climate control car with a Single DIN radio, then it is different from the stock one's in the non-climate control exec's.
You need to strip the container from an Advance, Sports or VRX model Magna. JollysUPull in Dandenong currently have about 2-3 Magna Advance's sitting there.
If you're looking for the facia and the mounting brackets then I have a spare set as well.

Didn't realise they were even there, its pretty close (sort of), so i will go down there over the weekend. If they don't have them there i might have to take you up on the offer :)
Thanks mate - much appreciated :)

I thought the advance din pocket was the same as the exec as neither of those models had climate control?

The TJS2 & TJ1.5 (MY02) Advance's definitely came with Climate control. TJ Series 1 however did not.
OP - I've just checked Jolly's stock again and it appears that the 2 Advances' they had a few weeks ago have been crushed.
You want to contact Imalchs or Dandy wreckers instead.

Become a Jolly's member, and then sign up to get an email alert when they get any new magna's. However, over the last 2-3 years I have not often seen any Advance/Sports/VRX models - most likely due to the cost of buying these at auction.
Call around and browse ebay if nothing else. A guy called "LancerCity" often wrecks magna's but he is Qld so you will have to pay some postage. Otherwise swing past your local Autobarn and see if they have a universal aftermatrket din pocket that fits.

I have a couple of these here for $35, the reason you will not generally find the cars at Jolly's is because I generally get them these days.....
Brand new from Mits these pockets were priced from memory well over $100 I assume becuase they were a limited run

LOL lol well that explain it then! From what I see - Jollys only buys the car's that go for incredibly cheap because no one bids on it - which is usually the boring bog stock exec's with nothing in them lol
$35 for that pocket isn't a bad price at all. Those aftermarket universal ones are at least $25-30 and it can hard to fit the right size on plus fit it up properly.

Mal i will come past and grab one shortly...... yer the aftermarket ones don't fit properly and make the car look really cheap!

Just to confirm, are the non climate model DIN pockets screwed onto the back of the console fascia and the climate models din pockets screwed into the cage that holds the cd player?

Correct, assuming you're talking only about the TE-TJ consoles. TL Consoles are different again being climate and mounting to the front fascia.

Awesome, after 2 years of not having a din pocket I find one I must've bought a while ago and forgotten about.
