My GF's 1999 3.5 auto Magna Exec is up and running again with much thanks to this forum esp. Mal for supplying the BEM and ECU.

However the engine warning light comes, so I grounded out pin one on the diag block and got codes 71 and 72.

According to the sheets I've got this relates to the vacuum and vent valves on the traction control system, but as far as I can see the car doesn't have traction control.

Any ideas on what these could be or did these cars come with traction control as standard and I'm being an idiot.

The new ECU and BEM came from a Verada, if it had traction control could that be the problem?

The car seems to run ok, althoug I would have expected a bit more oomph from a big motor, is it ok to run it with the light on or is it defaulting to some sort of self protection mode?

Cheers

Yes, you'll need to reflash the ECU to change the TCL option so it's not looking for it.

Cool, cheers for that, now how would I go about reflashing the ECU?

See thread linked in my sig. A KH ECU would require use of an OpenPort 2 cable. My ECUFlash definitions for TH ECUs currently don't have the periphery information that needs to be changed, but others might be able supply the information.

What car is the donor ECU out off?

either way, as andy has stated - you'll need to borrow someones openport 2 cable. depending on the donor ecu, will determine what rom (you can download the existing rom off it and edit it if you wanted) and what definition files you'll need to make the nessesary change.

Cheers gents, been away for a while and now the cars gone to the GF's ex hubby, so it's all his problem now I just promised to get it going again. Seems to run ok.

Thanks again to all for th help getting the car running again, I reckon I'll get it back to redo the headliner though, the spray glue I used is crap and the liner is drooping badly already.
