Which engine does my "01 Diamante LS have. 4g72, 4g73, 4g74
It's the 3.5 24 DOHC.
How might I find this out?

From my understanding which is most likely wrong I think it is the 6g74.

the older diamante's used the 3.0 DOHC and the newer one's use the 3.5 DOHC. all these engines are made in australia in SA you could in thoery order one but it would probably cost you between $15,000 and $20,000 from mitsubishi.

I wasn't aware that diamante's used the DOHC version... Interesting...
Actually on an interesting side note,
A mate that works at a major car servicing centre informs me that mitsubishi have made the replacement 3.5ltr engines available for about $4000!! aparently its cheaper to replace a whole engine than do major engine work on the 3.5's - its almost worth getting one and putting it aside...
thats for a 3.5l with the sump and everything on (none of the external bits obviously)

The ’01 Diamante LS has a 6G74 SOHC 3.5L. The vehicle weighs 2020 kg compared to an Australian Verada, which weighs about 1500kg.

yeah the Diamante is heavier due to in america they have to have those larger bumpers at the front and rear that have low speed collision prevention dampers which cut down on insurance claims but add heaps to weight
