Hi all,
Just moved to Sydney from Ireland and bought a 2004 Magna ES.
I have a Ford Focus ST in Ireland which i am shipping but needed a car so bought the magna.
It has 144000km on the clock.
I have a couple of issues when i corner right hard i get a weird rubbing noise coming from the rear.
On the Motorway when i went over 110km i get a slight vibration throught the steering wheel.
Also the speakers in the car crackle alot when listening to music.
Any help would be great as i am used to my Manual FWD focus and never worked on an Auto mitsubishi so dont know where to start.
Thanks

Does it have steel wheels or alloy rims? It might be worth getting a wheel balance and then alignment done firstly as if a steel rim is bent it will vibrate (just had same issue)..

Hi mate thanks for the reply,
It has steel wheels, the tyres were put on new just before i bought it, i checked the rims for dents etc and they look fine.
And all 4 wheels have the weights on them. I was going to get the balance checked just need to find a good place near Harrington park to get it done.
Only here a few weeks and trying to find my way about.
I got under the car and checked all the cv's etc and they are spotless no grease or leaks and all the fluids under the hood are perfect.
Hopefully its just a balance issue.
As for the audio i have no clue about audio so i am checking the wires etc for breaks.
For the wireless, check the aerial is connected by tuning to between stations with volume up, then tap the aerial with something metal like a coathanger and you should hear static...if no static then the aerial is not connected.
For the imbalance you could try swapping front for rear. The noise on cornering could be from the handbrake shoes although that usually make more of a squeaking noise. Good Luck.

Most of the radio stations are pretty average in the area. If you are listening to C91.3, due to a low power setting on the amplification (another 91.3 within 100km?) North of Campbelltown is weaker than should be expected. The door trims can rattle as well if the plastic sleeve behind the door trim on the grab handle is loose.

Well i had the car in the mechanic today and the slight vibration was caused by a wheel balance issue.
And the rubbing noise on hard lock is the brake pads rubbing on some corrosion near the brake disc.
Due to the car standing un-used for a few months before it was sold as the seller was not using it.
So I will be getting the pads replaced and rotors done and this should fix it.
Other than that it got the all clear all the fluids, belts etc were new and as the mechanic said you can tell it was well looked after and serviced regularly.
