I have a TF 3.0L, she has done 300K's and I think about ready to retire. The chasis etc is in excellent condition. I can get a TK engine for around $1300 with 3 month warranty with 115,000K's. I think the TK is a 3.5L? Is the engine worth it? Can I put the 3.5 in the 3.0L? Also I like the triptronic gearboxes (i think in the verada's). Can i put that in my exec TF?

No such thing as a TK...

Find out if they meant TH-TJ ? Or possibly KF,KH,KJ then yes they'll be a 3.5 litre. The Veradas start with a K and the Magnas start with a T just so you know ;)

And it'll bolt in as far as I'm aware. You'll need the wiring loom and ecu to go with it tho

if i'm not wrong the 3.0L and 3.5L is basically the same engine block, so they have the same dimensions. only thing is that the 3.0L was either bored/stroked (not sure) to 3.5L.

Mate, I reckon its hardly worth the effort. Sell your car and get a new one!

3.5 is actually a slightly taller block, but will still drop straight in for straight swap

if u want a tippy auto u will need to take the ecu from the car as well that controls it.

I was considering this next year but dropping in the works... 3.5L and manual GB etc. But I get overwhelming response of "Don't do it!!!" just buy a newer car!

Why would it be hardly the effort... it leaves more $$$ in the bank account... especially when there isn't many there :headbange

Do the triptronic and 4spd autos have the same box with different computers? Or different box's as well?

count me in :headbange

if the 3.5 is only $1300, by the time u sell your car and buy a newer one it be less of a hassle

Of course if you want you could just buy a brand new 3.0l engine from mits for about 2,800. Just have to bolt your inlet and exaust manifolds on.

totally agree, if you are spending $1300 on a second hand engine done over 115K and you have no idea how it was driven

it is better to buy a new engine even though you have to spend $1500 extra but it will last you much more longer (will take atleast 5 years to reach 115 K depending on your driving style).

Hey, this has blown me away a little... what do 3.5's go for?

About the same I think.

Whats does it come with? At that price I would suspect from the head to the sump. No ancillaries.
