I've got a problem with my magna cutting out .

Its a 1996 TE Magna V6 .

It cuts out every second time I start the car . , Ie , I start the car in the morning all is good , drive with no problems , Turn the car off . Then start again and drive off and it cuts off on aceleration .

I've been watching it for the last few weeks , It happens on que every second time I start the car .
It happens on trhe 2nd, 4th , 6th etc .

When it cuts out I get no anusual lights on the dash , Just the revs drop and the car doesn't go anywhere .

I've already changed these parts :

Brand New Fuel Pump.
Brand New distributor .New Button and also cap.
Air flow meter .# 789
Fuel Pump & ECU relays , under the ashtray .
Fuel filter and also the tried another pressure regulator .

I'm out of idea's as to whats causing this .

Could I have a faulty ECU ?

Anyone ever had this problem ?
If the car would stall normaly you get the red lights come on the dash , But my car still runs when it cuts out , Its just not responive , the revs drop to 200 rpm.

I didn't think a stalling problem could be 'funny'.. lol, sorry I had to say it :P

That's a weird issue given it happens only every 2nd start. Can't hurt to try resetting the ECU & follow the re'learning process:

Do you get a check engine light?

Otherwise i would say it could a throddle body - clean it out

No lights at all .

I cleaned the tb , But I might try taking it off and giving it another go .

You've got to give it a good scrub with carby cleaner. Get into everywhere.

For starters, a car that has cut out is stalled, not still running.

Best bet is to get the car to do this while a scanner is plugged into the car. That is where i would start.

Seems odd is every even start, if you can replicate so easily try the above and that may give you an idea of what is going on. ECU would not be a difficult thing to try however you will need to programme the new ECU into the car first
