Never heard of this until I stumbled upon it today..

Looking to gain that competitive edge? If so then exhaust wrap is for you. It helps to retain heat in your exhaust system, increasing horsepower and reducing radiant heat damage. Wrapping the exhaust system maintains hotter exhaust gases, decreasing the density, and allowing the exhaust gas to exit the system faster! Greater exhaust scavenging is produced, thus lowering intake temperatures that means more horsepower.

anyone think this would make any real difference?

In my opinion it might make a slight difference but nothing too great. As it does make sense in the way it works, but you coulnd't expect real noticeable gains from it.

Hehe, I'm a bit sceptical about it....how do you reckon this stuff would work on a CAI?

i was going to use it mainly to cut down noise until i heard the extra heat from wraps shortens the life of the extractors, makes them brittle and can crack. i can see how it might aid gas velocity because it stays hot and does not contract and slow down as much. but i cant see how that would aid scavenging really. plus how does the cat cope with the extra heat.

I understood that was the point of getting extractors ceramic coated - protection against oxidation, lower ambient temperatures in the engine bay and increased exhaust gas velocity.

it might be useful if you drove above 4000RPM all the time, wouldn't you say Nick? didn't your Extractors used to glow Blue or something??? LOL... well it must be pretty hot to glow blue, wouldn't you say?

I found another place that sells these things in Melbourne actually.

someone go buy it and give me the unused bits. Hahaha.

ill get some one day to wrap my dump pipe in, and parts of my exhaust which rattle :bowrofl:

I think it wouldn't do too much. i just dont want my dump pipe cracking from cooling and heating up too quickly.
