I just had a roadworthy done on the car and I definatly noticed a burnt oil and rich running fuel smell coming from the rear, I was failed on the fact that the car is blowing out BLUE smoke from the exhurst. I was told that the repair isnt worth it giving that my car has done 230,000+ on the clock. If i wanted to go ahead with the repair, it would be a $1500+ job.
What is cause of the blue smoke and how can I fix it without paying a huge amount for the repair. (car has been valued at 1200) :(
PS. I have also noticed a scweeling sound from the front right when I hard lock the steering wheel to the Right ---->. What is causing that and how do I fix it?
Cheers in advanced. :)

Squealing noise could be power steering pump, check fluid level. Didn't realize they could fail you on blue smoke!!
230klms is nothing, gave my mother in law my old tf wagon with 312klms, just had timing belt and water pump, STILL going like an animal :)

Good to hear that your car that gave away is still running. I'm just concerned about the blue smoke. Guys at work have told me to worry about too much. One guy said that his was doing it till he squirted brake cleaner into the intercooler. I thought that was messed up and won't try it. Haven't got the balls.

Blue smoke can be from the piston ring.
Or the valve thingy from the cylinder head.
Just watched wheeler dealers on youtube and found interesting knowledge.
Thanks
It all depends on the reason for trying to get a roadworthy report - generally it is to sell a car, and if they knock you back you have about 2 weeks or so to rectify or the car is unroadworthy....but I guess you are aware of this already.
The smoke will simply be apparent because your engine is worn....cheapest fix is another motor and this will cost about $500 fitted by yourself....thick oil may stop the smoke but it will return....no use replacing the rings/valve stem seals etc as they will cost more than another motor. The steering probel is more $$$$. And you have an intercooler????.
My advice FWIW is to cash your car in, and buy another....much simpler than stuffing around.

Blue smoke indicates oil being burnt.
This could be a number of things but I assume it would be your valve stem seals
brake cleaner into the intercooler? do you mean carby/throttle body cleaner or upper engine cleaner into the air intake?
cleaning out the inlet side might stop smoke, if the rings aren't sealing properly, the exhaust can get past the piston rings excessively and might push excess air and oil fumes into the EGR system (a tube that vents this pressure build up into the air intake instead of the atmosphere)
if all the oily muck has built up over time it could be running down and into the engine.
blue smoke constantly could be worn rings.
blue smoke on startup or if you give the engine a bit of a rev after its been idling is the valve stem seals.
there is a writeup on here somewhere on how to do the stem seals.

If you like the way the car drives and plan to keep it, in my opinion it could be worth spending the money. Reconditioning the top end of the motor should definitely see the motor last beyond 300,000km with no worries if oil changes are kept up. At least then you know what has been done and you can expect it to last longer. Buying another motor from wreckers could give you a motor in a condition that you currently have or worse.
The squealing noise on full lock could more than likely be a loose power steering belt. If it was the pump you would notice a whining noise while turning at any position of the steering wheel and it could feel tighter. Definitely check the belt first.

As a quick and reasonably cheap fix, if this works, get some wynns engine flush, warm up the motor, put this in, let idle for at least 20 mins, drian and put in some Penrite HPR10 with a new filter. If it is stem seals and they are allowing oil past due to a build up of rubbish on the stem this may reduce the issue enough to stop this happening.
Other alternative is get a cheap motor from a wrecker and have this fitted. On a Magna motor you dont bother doing heads as these often cost more than a good used motor
With the mileage you have would be unlikely to be rings
