Hi all
Probably a noob question but I've trawled and searched to no avail.
I'm no audiophile but am looking to upgrade my factory head unit to something that has (at minimum) a front USB and doesn't look too foreign in the imitation metallic beige (or whatever colour it is) console?
I've no ideas of upgrading the system aside from head unit; the car is nice and original but if possible, I'd like to get a head unit that blends in as much as possible and doesn't look any more after market than necessary.
Any suggestions?

Haha, like they all come in the favourite Model T colour range, Black or Black.....
I'm thinking of upgrading BTW.......
Otherwise JVC do well to cater for your Elec Aerial, and OEM Dimming.
Actually some come in Metallic/Charcoal alloy finishes, but are usually Premium $800.00 plus units

Yeah that seems the way... might just get a cheapo Dbl Din at JB while they're cheap so I'll be distracted by the flashing lights instead! Haha!

I found a decent USB extension cable with mount (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/USB-Under-Dash-Mount-Kit-w-6-Ft-Cable-iPod-Mp3-/200744360193?pt=Car_Audio_Video&hash=item2ebd4bd901), so you can get a rear USB and mount the USB in the lower pocket or center console bin. Save extracting USB drives from from your face in an Accident......
If you dont get one with antenna control, your antenna goes up when you listen to a cd or USB....They have to connect to the amp turn on/trigger wire.....

I'd be happy to install for you, I wouldn't let JB near my cars...

You can put that money to a better headunit, just save $15.00 for a loom adaptor, so I can solder the the h/u to the adaptor, it will then be completely reversible.

Hey Smithy, heres a recommendation for you. JVC KW-XR816 (http://www.ryda.com.au/JVC-KW-XR816-Car-Bluetooth-USB-Tuner-p/kwxr816.htm) or the JVC Link (http://www.jvc.com.au/car-av/head-units/kw-xr816)
Has lots of stuff, front and rear usb. ( the front is taken up by a Bluetooth dongle, that pertrudes about 6mm out of the front USB)
Get the USB mount off ebay, and that can be fitted in the Arm rest console.
So you'll get AM, FM, CD, USB, Bluetooth, (phone and streaming capabilities).
Other features is remote, proper antenna control, Burr Brown DAC's ( Improves source clarity).
3 Sets of RCA's if you ever want to amp a system too.
Variablle colour display.
The adaptor we need APP0111 Link (http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Aerpro-Wiring-Harness-APP0111-to-suit-most-Mitsubishi-1-plug-type.aspx?pid=224821#Description)
If you can get a JB to match the price of the H/unit, if they have one, you should be looking at less than 300.00.... Or look around it might be on clearance somewhere.....
