When I bought my series 2 VR-X in 2010, the gear shift knob was already showing signs of wear. The finish on the top centre of the knob had scraped off in places.

It hasn't got any worse since then, but I'd really like to replace it. I could ask my local dealer to sell me one, but I was wondering if I might do better online - maybe one from a Galant.

After spending some time on eBay and Google I've not spotted anything. So I thought I'd ask here...

Has anyone replaced their shift knob, and if so where did you buy it?

I have a complete brand new shifter here, is listed in my ebay store, you get new chrome surround and top plate at the same time then

Slightly OT, but Mal, do you have a leather manual gear knob and boot in new or near new condition?

I'm guessing they are rare as hen's teeth and only ever came on manual VRXs.

Also, judging from the pics on a certain For Sale thread, the metal trim around the base of the boot is chrome instead of faux alloy.

Thanks. I was hoping to replace just the knob rather than the whole unit.

But I've added your store to my eBay sellers list and will also give the details to a young bloke I know who owns a Magna VR-X. You've got some good stuff there.
