In the factory loom, the electric aerial is Pink. The Blue wire on it's own that connects to the factory radio is mute wire if you hook up a compatible phone kit.

hey guys,
I've got a TJ Exec with no factory electric aerial. would the wiring still be there to install an aftermarket one? Coped a bit of a tree branch last night and bent my aerial, then snapped it this mornin trying to straighten it up.
Whats the maximum price i should pay for a generic electric aerial?
Cheers

Hi Mate
I'm about to pick up a electric aerial for my tj but mitsubishi is quoting me $177.37 for model number AW-351-437 $115 sounds much more reasonable how did you manage to get this price? I'd rather get genuine than aftermarket if possible

if you dont have electric ariel, but put a electric ariel in, do you have to do any wireing at the back of the HU..
or is that wireing all there, just needs power to a motor in the ariel?

no - if there is no factory electric arial - i found no facotry wiring
though - booya for you it's easy - run an earth, a power and a remote off one of your amps - thats all teh wires you need - that way the arial is up when the amps are on - or if you want to be tricky add a switch - that way you can put the arial up and down as you see fit
Cruise to perth - i'll put it in for you - oh and i promise not to bust the clips holding in your interiou ;)

My stock electric aerial would only go up and down with the stereo on and off. I wanted it down with the tape in (Yeah, I know, crap system, but I can't justify spending more money, I am a stinge), so the only way was to put in a switch to turn the aerial signal off. Do some of the head units have two wires, one for the amp remote turn on that is on whenever the stereo is on, and one for the aerial, only active with the radio?
I know that stock units in many cars with elec aerials put the aerial down with CD/tape inserted. I hate having the aerial up unless I need it for radio (not very often, I hate radio).
