I'm having issues with my CD changer not reading the MP3 CDs I have burnt. I burn them using itunes, in both MP3 CD mode and audio CD mode. Neither version plays. When I put them in any other CD player they will play. It will only play commercially burned CDs at the moment.
I'm pressing the CD button on the head unit to change to MP3 mode and nothing happens, no beep or anything.
Anyone have this problem before?

I didn't have any issues with mine playing MP3's when it was still in there, have you tried using a different cd burning program or maybe another computer to narrow the problem down?

Slow the burning down process helps too
iTunes uses their own format for audio, I'm not sure how well it's gonna go burning it to cd as a data file which is how the cd player in the 380 reads them, as data, not audio. Because iTunes use their own format (AAC I think?), it's probably burning them off as that. Most other CD players will recognise it, but there's always the odd one that doesn't. Try burning the files as Audio through Windows Media Player and see how you go, or grab something like imgburn and add data files and burn through that.

YES!
I had this issue, got the same advice as above when i posted the same questions in 2009... save you a bit of time - none of these suggestions worked.
i eventually switched out the cd unit, all the same cds id been trying in the old unit played fine straight away.not sure what the issue is with the readers but is definiately within the drive itself.
also when putting an mp3 cd the headunit will pick up if its mp3 or normal cd audio, you dont need to press anything :D
Are you sure the kbps of the tracks isnt too high?

It turned out the batch of CD-Rs I bought were just faulty. After hours of mucking around and 6 burned discs later I came to that conclusion (they CDs wouldn't actually play in other car CD players) I took them back, bought Kodak brand ones, burned them as Audio CDs through iTunes and they worked straight away. They played automatically upon inserting the discs.
I had always heard stories about faulty blank discs but never expected I would ever happen to buy them.

A lot of the cheaper brands are rubbish, I had a stack of 50 Shintaro brand DVD's which I'd *cough* copied some movies on, after about 6 months none of them would play and became coasters. You can pick up BenQ, Teac and LG which are holding up better.
