Hi guys.
Does anyone know about getting your original factory springs reset. I went to my local suspension guy and he suggested that resitting the springs in a forge might be an option as i will still have that lovly smooth magna ride but loose the 4wd apperance and it was $100 cheeper.
What do you think, thanks :D

not sure, some peepz told me i could get my king spring lows reset? I would like my car a bit lower...without costing more than its worth. i know i can get superlows on teh front, but then my car will look like its about to nosedive i think :doubt:

i've only heard of resetting shock absorbers. can't they regass and change the properties of the shocks, to suit if u have say, lower springs?

You can certainly get springs reset. They heat them up and re-temper them, thus adjusting the height and firmness of the springs.

i called around and got quoted $90 a pair to compress springs... which is alot when u can buy lows/super lows for %110 a pair..

Some people told me that doing it fu*ks up the spring, because ur re-heating the spring and forcing it into a compressed state that the metal isnt meant to be in, after a while the spring just 'dies'.. thats what i was told. What he meant by the spring 'dieing' i will never know.

But ill assume he means the properties in the metal seize to maintain the ability to contain stored energy hence it doesnt compress and stretch like it should. and just end up cracking or failing.

i have had 4X4 and truck leaf springs retempered/reset many times, but never coils. it's a cheap way of giving an old sagged spring a new lease on life if u can find someone to do it who knows what there doing like a springmaker. I Use a guy in Inverell NSW (kings i think).

reseting is a great idea for the family car that wants lowering a bit as it does not effect the ride at all. as for most of us, we want a little bit harder ride which lowered spring give. never heard of it shortening the life of the springs though.
