Hey guys,
I'm currently eyeing off a red TS V6-SI for $1500. The car looks nice and i've seen it driving around town before. the only problem si that it keeps jumping out of reverse (5 speed manual). My Mum's Ford Fiesta has had the same problen since it was 20,000 kms old, and the Ford dealer has said that we are moving the gearstick too far over into reverse, making it not engage.
Does anyone know if this means that i'm up for a new gearbox, or is it easily fixed???
Any help is much appreciated :)

Might just be a linkage adjustment problem. Or it could be the reverse shift detent ball/spring stuck or missing, or it could be abnormal wear and tear on the rear shifter fork.
I'd buy the car if it is low in km, if over 200,000 km I'd give it a miss or try to get the price down. Up to you really.

I'm going to call them tonight and see how many kms are on it.
Do you think that it would be a cheap/ easy fix, or would i have to take it to a mechanic?

A second gen with even a remote possibility that the gearbox isn't good especially for 1500 sounds like a bad investment.

For that price you can honestly find a decent 3rd gen if you looked hard enough.
